Trump created a clear path for Poiliviere but he failed to take it.By stating that he could best work with Carney, Trump without overtly interfering in the Canadian election, in essence freed Poiliviere of any assumption that he is or would be the Canadian Trump.All Poiliviere had to do was hit the Canadian and US airwaves with the simple message that once he was PM he would work things out with the American President on defense and trade issues. But he failed catastrophically. On purpose? Yes.
I support most of what Trump is trying to do. However, I was and still am very upset for his lack of support for Poilievre during our last election, and putting in tariffs so Carney could win because of Carney’s fear factor against Trump. Promises are nothing until they are kept & EU is not keeping their promises. I think there was a miscalculation in the Trump administration regards to the Canadien elections. Someone screwed up whether it was DJT or one of his advisors. Hopefully the Canadien people have the gravitas to demand a new election, but I doubt it. May Yom Kippur be peaceful & w/soul searching
