It is Hard for Me to Remember Anyone in American Politics who was more Vilified than Joe McCarthy, as McCarthy Declared Socio/Political War Against Americans of Influence – who Toed the Communist Line . . . Specifically, But Not Entirely Against The Media & The Hollywood Crowd.
I Wasn’t Born Yet (February 9, 1950) When McCarthy Started His Anti-Communist Crusade . . . I Was Born February 12, 1950 – But Everything I Read about Joe McCarthy as I was Growing-Up, Painted McCarthy at Best as a Neanderthal, And At Worst As A Hitlerian Clone.
Prior To The Emergence Of Joe McCarthy . . . On January 3l, 1945, Congress Permanently Instituted the House Un-American Activities Committee, Which Was Abolished On January 14, 1975.
I Am Neither Going To Defend Nor Support The Work Of Joe McCarthy, Even-Though so Many People Suffered as a Result of McCarthy’s Senate Hearings . . . There were Also No Shortage of People who Indeed were Enemies of the State, Whether They Themselves Believed It Or Not, who Deserved the Ire of McCarthyism.
I am Pointing out that the Threat of Communism Prior to, and Thereafter WWII was a Real Issue, Not Perhaps as Threatening to the United States in its Entirety as was the American Nazi Movement at that Time, which Encapsulated the KKK, Jim Crow & Others.
Based Upon What We Knew Then . . . And What We Know Now . . . I Have to Say, McCarthy was Not Necessarily a Man Without Reason, Nor was he a Man Without Viable Purpose. And Perhaps my Opinion of American Nazis and the Like (Far Right) was Over-Stated, Not because they were Not Poison to the Entire Fabric of the American Culture, But Rather, because the Far Right Did Not Pose as Organized a Covert National Threat to America as Did the Communists.
WHAT IS THE ALLURE TO COMMUNISM OTHER THAN UNWARRANTED HYPE?
Real Or Perceived? . . . It Doesn’t Really Matter, Since Perception Is Greater Than Reality.
This Time . . . More Than Normal . . . Partly because of the Growing Disparity between the Working Class, which is Earning More Money than ever Before, But Nonetheless Cannot Get Ahead, Find themselves Working from Day to Day just to Keep Even . . . Who See Themselves Standing At The Edge Of A Chasm Between Them & The Well-Off.

You produce. I don’t. We get the same pay. The pay is low for us, but not for the communist leaders who eat like billionaires while we lineup for a loaf of bread.
I believe society has been captured within socialism and communism for a couple of decades if not more and will be a hell of a long time before a resemblance of real democracy shows its face again. I’m 74 cdn living abroad, extended traveling retirement.
The geniuses who wrote the Constitution could not have foreseen how the country’s teaching institutions would prove to be the ultimate architects of America’s demise. If a venomous snake is threatening to bite you, the only sane response is to kill it. If your goal is to destroy the USA, just keep doing what you have been doing for decades: don’t educate the children; indoctrinate them. Leftist loons (i.e., fascists) masquerading as teachers should be prosecuted as traitors.

The comparison is interesting but there are differences.Islamic jihad wants to destroy all other religions and dominate from a dictatorial Islamic position. Current day communism is mostly the story of dictators, having little to do with betterment of the people. The anti-communism of McCarthy was mostly against hollywood and people of importance. Present-day leftists are anti-semites, anti-Israel and environmentally confused. They are also infiltrating from inside, not proposing war.
I am a retired high school health teacher. I created a teaching unit titled “How to think and determine reality” In 2005 when I wrote this unit I saw the storm brewing of a cancer growing consisting of an inability to determine reality. So here today my fears have materialized and as you have written, growing. Glad I am 81 and not 18. You need your own TV network.
You have accurately described the pot we are all boiling in. 3 generations have now been raised on images of fantasyland. Whether it be “harmless” sitcoms or The Real Housewives of New Jersey there has been a complete lack of reality portrayed in the media. Add to this an overwhelming sense of ENVY, a human emotion that drives broad resentment, as most of us will never match the wealth accumulated by the few who have existed in every generation. The mass ignorance surrounding us spells DOOM!
