Be Careful For Your Threats – The Consequences Could Be Dire

MANIFEST DESTINY . . . THE MONROE DOCTRINE:
AS MUCH AS I LIKE THE BRAVADO OF TRUMP – IT SHOULD HAVE LIMITS:

Beating-Up On A Friend Is Not What A Friend Does.

I’ve Been Flooded With Emails Concerning Trump’s Threat To Tariff Canada, by People on Both Sides of the Border, Wondering What the Kerfuffle is all About.

Canada Is Not A Beggar Nation . . . And is America’s Single Largest Purchaser of American Goods & Services. Click Here To Read A Spread Sheet Produced By TD Economics . . . which is One of Canada’s Signature Banks (TD Canada) that Also Has a Huge American Footprint.

TRUMP SAYS THAT AMERICA DOESN’T NEED CANADIAN OIL:

Let Me Make This Clear . . . America Imports 6.5-Million Barrels Of Oil Every Day from the World Market. But Of The 6.5-Miillion Barrels – Canada Exports 4-Million Barrels to the USA (61% Of American Petroleum Imports), Which Represents just a Bit Shy . . . Of 100% Of Canada’s Energy Exports.

Because Canada Has Virtually No Way To Export Our Oil Beyond North America (USA), Canada is Forced to Sell our Oil to the United States of America at a Sharply Discounted Price Compared to the World Benchmark.

America Needs Canadian Oil As Much As Canada Needs America’s Oil Purchases.

For Anyone Who Thinks Canada is Getting a Fair Deal Selling Canadian Crude to America, in Contrast to What Canada is Paid, Compared to What the US Pays for Other Imported Sources . . . Think Again.

Canada Also Exports A Massive Amount Of Electricity To The United States, Specifically to the American North East Industrial States, where Canada’s Supply of Electricity is Also Discounted, Abundant & Reliable.

TRUMP SPOKE OF NO NEED TO PRODUCE AMERICAN CARS & TRUCKS IN CANADA:

While it is True that Canada Sells a Great Deal of Cars to the United States, that Number is Fractional to the Number of Cars Sold into Canada from the United States that are Manufactured in the United States of America. According to TD Economics . . . Canada Produces 14 Car Models But Consumes 325 Models.

But Even At That . . . When One Considers the Intricate Manufacture of Parts that are Traded Daily Between Canada and the United States of America, which is Heavily Balanced in the Favor of the United States – Any Disruption Would Cause An Enormous Supply Chain Imbalance To Both Countries.

I AM NOT SUGGESTING CANADA IS NOT IN NEED OF AN ASS KICKING:

To Understand What Is Happening Today . . . You Have To Know What Happened Yesterday.

In 1969, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, the Father of Justin Trudeau, Became Prime Minister of Canada. Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Affectionately Called PET by his Groupies, was First Elected on his Charisma and his Promise to Make Canada “A Just Society”.

What Pierre Elliott Trudeau Never Explained . . . Was How Canada Was Not a Just Society, which it was, and Had No Need to be “Fundamentally Changed” . . . Sound Familiar?

Trudeau was a Gallivanter & Playboy, Running in Hollywood Circles with the Likes of Margot Kidder, Barbra Streisand & Brianna Jagger to Name a Few, which Titillated  the Canadian Electorate, Causing the Canadian Media to Call Trudeau’s Political Success . . . Trudeau Mania.

But In Reality . . . Trudeau was a Globe Trotting Pro-Communist Anti-American, who Actually Did Fundamentally Change Canada (Not For The Better) from a Nationalist Meritocracy to Become a Failing Socialist Society.

In 1971 . . . Pierre Elliott Trudeau Introduced A Minister Of Multi-Culturalism, which Favored Non-European Cultures Over the North America Culture Under which I was Raised.

Before Trudeau . . . Canada Virtually Had No Debt. Canada Had a Fighting Armed Force. Canada Shared Much with the United States Before Trudeau Changed the Imperial System (Feet, Gallons, Miles – Etc) to the Metric System to Divide Canada Further from the United States as Much as he Could.

Like His Son Justin Trudeau . . . Pierre Elliott Sought to Focus Canada’s Trade from  the United States of America – Towards Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East. We (Canada) Bought Plenty From Them – They Bought Virtually Nothing From Us.

As Time Evolved . . . Before The People Of Canada Threw Trudeau Out On His Ass . . . Trudeau Embedded Certain Rights & Privileges into Canada’s New Constitution (1982), which Forever Paralyzed Real Freedoms of Growth & Personal Independence Amongst the Canadian People, which Also Included Giving the Province of Quebec a Future Pathway to Independence as its Own French Sovereign State (Society) Within Canada.

More Than 50-Years Later . . . the Son of Pierre Elliott Trudeau (Justin) is Finishing the Job his Father Started, by Indebting Canada Beyond what we Can Pay-Back, with a Military that is a National Joke, and an Immigration System that No Longer Resembles the European Judeo/Christian Ethos that Once Made Canada Great.

I HAVE BEEN GIVING THIS A GREAT DEAL OF SERIOUS THOUGHT:

I Don’t Want Canada To Be The Fifty-First State Of The United States Of America. I Want The Canada Of My Youth . . . But I’m Realizing it Now, that the Canada I was Born-Into, Has Become a Memory that will Never Comeback . . . So What Am I Tryng To Preserve?

The Immigrant Population with no Relevance to Canadian History, Culture & Mores Has Surpassed the Once Euro-Based Judeo/Christian Population that will Never Restore Itself.

You Can’t Swamp A Population With Different Cultures & Hope That Things Will Not Change, Especially When so Many of those Cultures are Steeped in Tribal Animosities Towards One Another, With Envy For The People Of The Country To Where They’ve Immigrated.

MANIFEST DESTINY . . .THE MONROE DOCTRINE:

In 1823, President James Monroe Invoked Manifest Destiny As Part Of The Monroe Doctrine – which in Fact, was the North American Expansion of American Constitutional Freedoms & Governance Throughout North America, Envisioning all Of North America as a Single Continental American Nation.

As Part Of The Monroe Doctrine . . . All Nations Foreign to the Continent of North America Would Have No Rights to Embed themselves into the Politics or Governance of any Part of North America . . . Including Canada. To Do-So . . . Would Be An Official Act Of War.

Canada Can Not Live Without The United States Of America – And America Would Be A Lesser Country Without Canada. There Has to Be a Mechanism Upon which Both of Our Countries Can Become One, Without Either Surrendering Or Absorbing The Others’ Social Values.

Until Now . . . Manifest Destiny Hasn’t Been An Issue Or Even Discussed – But the World is Changing Rapidly, In Ways I Could Never Have Imagined, to the Point, that Canada Has Become so Entrenched in American Commerce, Politics & Culture . . . that Perhaps the Time Has Come, As I Have Written Recently, For Canada to Become Far More Absorbed Under the American Umbrella.

YESTERDAY . . . I WATCHED AS TRUMP GREETED THE SURVIVORS OF HELENE:

I Wish We Could Have Done More . . . But At Least We Did Something.

I Have Been Affiliated With Many Things In My Life That Has Caused Me To Be Proud. But . . . Within a Day or Two of the Horrible Hurricane Wiping-Out Parts of North Carolina (Asheville) . . . I Called My Great & Good Friend Frank Cyzick From Knoxville Tennessee, who with Frank’s Wife – Anne & Myself . . . Sent Relief (Money) Without Delay To Help Lessen The Burden Of The Battered People Of The Central East.

We Didn’t See People In A Foreign Country (USA) Who Needed Whatever Help We Could Give Them . . . We Saw Family, People we Feel Most Comfortable With as we Travel Throughout America, Who Took A Horrible Beating, Needing More than Just our Good Wishes & Prayers . . . We Saw Kin Struggling To Survive – They Weren’t Just Images Of “Foreigners” On A Television News Screen.

If This Is What Manifest Destiny Will Be All About – Count Anne & Myself-In.

Best Regards . . . Howard Galganov

  1. Greetings: I was born in Montreal and moved to America as a green card holder right after the PQ won the election in Quebec. I saw the writing on the wall and applied, at the U.S. Consulate in the World Trade Center in NYC to emigrate to America. Within 6 months I received my permanent residence and moved to Florida. I applied for U.S. citizenship exactly 5 years later. I’ve returned to visit Canada over the decades. I THINK CANADA SHOULD BECOME THE 51st STATE! AND LET QUEBEC BE INDEPENDENT.

  2. Trump is America’s equivalent to your “Mr. Wonderful”, Kevin O’Leary. For both of these businessmen everything is transactional. Trump enters all negotiations in maximalist form and works backwards from there. What he is doing is trying to get our northern border secured from the passage of synthetically manufactured Fentanyl coming in from Canada. This is not a minimal amount and it has profoundly affected the northern states. The majority of overdose deaths is the USA are military age men.

  3. Beautifully said Howard! Thanks for reviving the Manifest Destiny idea. It will surely resonate well with the vast majority Canadians, less the always regretable Trudeau family and their socialist mongering, one-party, power-seeking, political associates.

  4. I have not forgotten nor forgiven the Canadian populace that stood by and did little as their government came down so hard on the truckers during Covid. Many in America were no better and that should never be forgotten either.

  5. If Canada was willing, I would welcome a union with the U.S. But since a union failed in 1775 and 1812, I suspect a majority of Canadians would not welcome a union. But that is not to say even closer ties are not possible. Canada is roughly 10% of the U.S. in population and GDP so a tighter union would be easy as the cultures are very similar. The balance of trade has been roughly equal over the years but recently negative for the U.S. Not a big deal but fentanyl and invaders are. Work together!

  6. Whatever the future may hold for Canada and the USA, it is tantamount to me that we stick together and remain friendly. And to maintain a good and fair relationship, I don’t want either country to lose its individual sovereignty. We each must have identity but realize we are stronger when we work together in today’s world. This will become a reality when Canadians vote in a great leader like my country has done. I think that leader should be Pierre Marcel Poilievre.

  7. I too hope Poilievre wins and that he will quickly be able to strengthen Canada and Canadians, as Trump has done for the USA. I agree with the Yonkers comment. The two nations need to work together to strengthen each other and the bond between. And the name change of Gulf of Mexico & Denali? That’s coming off like a ‘bully’ move. Don’t see that is needed to MAGA, so why?

  8. IMHO – President Trump is rattling his sword toward your dictators in order to reinforce freedom of speech upon your people. He loves Canada. And watching your freedoms wane to a totalitarian style rule is discomforting. Then when Trudeau said he would arrest the Prime Minister of Israel supporting the ICC warrant pushed him to respond. Canadians will not be harmed by Trump or his policies. President Trump will help you.

  9. I think Trump is rattling the cages of your communist government to tell them their day is over. Get out now or regret it. Hopefully his message will enlighten the population of Canada to elect a conservative government. That Canada needs a change in direction. If not, Canada will go into the has been can of nations. I think the people of America followed the Word of G-d in II Chron 7:14. Maybe the people of Canada should follow our lead. He is the reason we have Trump.

  10. As an American I wish there were an easy solution towards stronger relations with Canada. The more I think about it, the more I fall back on the concept to dissolve the Parliamentary system for a Republic, where citizens actually elect politicians, have more authority in the government. Yes, the US is a Republic not a democracy a democrats want you to believe. This was the intentions of the “great ones” for the people! Until then, Canada will remain of European nature with archaic governance

  11. I believe that we Canadians should embrace economic and monetary union with the USA, further more each separate province should become separate US states. So there would be 61+ new states, we should keep our health care system and expand as more more states decide to join this(our) system. Let’s talk

  12. Trump has made some good foreign policy moves before but this 51st idea is a very bad one. What he has helped Canada with is to wake us up to our unnecessary economic dependance on the USA. If Canada ends up with the next leader we think we’re going to get , continued bullying is not going to create the American golden age. What the bullying will create are lost US jobs and more expensive commodities. Yes Canada will fair even worse in the short term ( jobs wise ) but is all this strife neede
