I was Surprised when I Read that Charlie Kirk Saw the Jewish Sabbath as His & His Family’s Day of Rest from Every Sundown Friday Evening, to Every Sundown Saturday Evening, Putting Away His Cell Phone, Computer & Other Social Media Devices . . . Following The Jewish Religious Practice Of Jesus Christ His Savior & Mentor.

But Upon Reflection . . . Why Should I Have Been Surprised, since there are Many Messianic Christians, Not that I Know if Charlie Kirk Was or Was Not Messianic, However, Christ was a Jew Before Much of the World Accepted Christ as the Messiah of God. So Why Not Believe In & Practice The Religion Christ Believed-In?

As I Have Written Many Times . . . Neither Anne Nor I are Religious People, even though I Studied at a Montreal Rabbinical College, Along with Many Others – if Not Most . . . Who Carried-On Their Studies To Become Orthodox Rabbis.

I Went In A Secular Direction . . .

Surprisingly . . . Even To Myself – The Fact that I am Not Religious Does Not Preclude Me from Wearing a “Mogen David” (Jewish Star) Around My Neck. Nor Does it Diminish my Desire to Display a Mezuzah (Jewish Religious Talisman) Upon our Doorway, and the Lack of Religiosity Does Not Reduce in Any Way My (Our) Celebration of the Jewish Holidays . . . So What Does That Say?

To Me It Says That There Is Something Far Greater Than Simple Words Can Explain.

About 30-Years Ago, I Wrote A Soliloquy Called “Je Me Souviens”, which Translated from French into English – “I Remember”, which was and is the French Slogan on the License Plates of all Quebec Vehicles, which was Never Explained, at Least to Me, What Quebec Nationalists Wanted To Remember.

But I Knew What I Wanted To Remember . . .

The Timing Was During the Period Several Years Leading-Up to the Second Quebec Referendum to Separate Quebec from Canada, When The Unrestricted Use Of The English Language In The Province Of Quebec Was Coming To Its Apex.

No One Knew Who I Was Before The Referendum . . . They Soon Found-Out Afterwards. I Guess We all Did, Including Myself, because One Never Knows What One is Capable-Of Before Whatever Has to be Done is Done.

GERALDINE DOUCET – PERFORMER, AMERICAN, CANADIAN . . . A TRUE PATRIOT:

I Rented A Montreal Hotel Ballroom, and I Asked Geraldine Doucet, Montreal’s Premiere Live Theatre Performer to Read the Soliloquy as it was Written with the Passion I Believed it Deserved.

I Never Really Expected The Famous Geraldine Doucet To Perform My Soliloquy, Especially since my Offer for Her to Perform – Was For Free.  However, Geraldine Doucet, who was Initially an American by Birth, who Came to Canada to Marry Roger Doucet, Both Opera Singers, with Roger who Sang Canada’s National Anthem in French & English Before Every Montreal Canadien Hockey Game (For as Long As Could Remember) . . . Responded.

After The Death Of Roger Doucet . . . It Was Up To Geraldine To Carry-On The Tradition.

So I Guess you Can Imagine My Surprise When Geraldine Responded with Three Questions . . . When, Where & How Many Performances?

This Was During The Time Before Quebec Held Its Second Referendum To Separate Quebec From Canada, when the Separatist Parti Quebecois, Along With the Tacit Aid of Quebec’s Liberal Party, were Imposing their Draconian Anti-English Language Laws that Forbade the Unrestricted Use of the English Language in the Province of Quebec.

It was Also Just After the Murderous Quebec Terrorist Group FLQ (Front De Libération Du Québecc) Had Kidnapped a British Diplomat (James Cross) and Murdered a Quebec Liberal Member Of Cabinet (Pierre Laporte).

THE DEATH OF CHARLIE KIRK REMINDED ME . . .

Je Me Souviens – I Remember . . . A Time When the use of English Wasn’t a Dirty Word in Quebec, When Freedom Of Expression Was Open To All . . . When French Kids Would Fight English Kids Going to School, as the English Kids Would Give as Good as they Got on the Return, Only For Each To Play On Each Other’s Pick-Up Street Hockey Teams.

I Remember When French & English Kids Going To Different Schools, Speaking Different Languages, while Practicing Different Religions, Still Managed to Date Each Other. And I Remember when the Streets of Montreal Belonged to the People who were Canadians, and those who Moved to Canada to Assimilate & Become Canadians.

I Remember Our Teachers Who Didn’t Act As Our Friends, but Instead were Teachers who Taught us How to Read, Write, Do Arithmetic, Learn Geography, History – Etc, And How To Behave. They left the Parenting Where it Belonged.

I Remember When It Was Safe For Boys & Girls To Stay Out Until Dark . . . Wherever we were in Montreal, when the Police were our Friends & Adults Had to be Respected.

I Remember When Jobs Were Plenty . . . and Even if the Job Wasn’t Available that you Really Wanted, all you Had to Do was Read the Help Wanted Columns Until the Job you Really Wanted Became Available. No One Had To Be Unemployed.

I Remember A Time When Our Politicians Bloviated & Made Promises They Could Not Necessarily Keep. And When they Screwed-Up, his or her Resignation Was In The Offing.

I Cannot Remember a Time When I was Growing-Up – When Anyone Called Someone Else A Nazi, A Fascist Or Akin To Hitler. Certainly Not in Politics, Not in the Media & Never on  the Streets.

I Remember Getting Into Fights From Time To Time, that When One Combatant Gave-Up – the Fight was Over, And It Was Never A Mob Against One – No Police, No Lawyers, No Aftermath. And When it was all Over, Win or Lose each Fighter Bragged the Next Day Over the Black Eye or Split Lip they Received for their Efforts.

THERE ARE MORE BETTER TIMES I REMEMBER – THANK YOU CHARLIE KIRK:

What Charlie Kirk Did Was To Ignite The Memories Of The Past, Even Amongst those who Did Not Live During those Days, When Men were Men, Women were Women, And All Others Kept What They Were To Themselves.

Charlie Kirk Openly Invited Real Debate, while He Used the Thousands Year Old Scriptures to Revive Lost & Forgotten Values, which to Today’s Haters, were Akin to a Nuclear Weapon Against those who Would Rise as their Ancestors Had Done Before them, Throughout Human History – To Destroy All That Was Good.
