I am neither rich, white, nor privileged, but I do OK. I’m Hispanic, a Texan, and proud of it. I used to enjoy another Texan, Chip Roy, when he commented on the woes of the world. Especially the Woes of Texas, and the border crisis, etc. Now I’m embarrassed for him and I need someone who represents my state to do as I’ve always advised my own children. “Think before you speak.”
Well put Howard! I am reminded of the quote “It’s funny how the harder I work, the luckier I get!” I must take exception to the statement that all men (and women) are created equal. In my 80 years, I have come to realize that many are much stupider than others and tend to lean left. Common sense and rational observation seems to be a thing of the past. The only time I used the word “JAP” was to refer to an excellent Japanese vocalist named Kyu Sakamoto. Of course, I used “JAP” in tongue in cheek because I loved Kyu’s song “Sukiyaki” which although named after a “Japanese Dish” folks ordered in a restaurant… Kyu wrote it as a love song. Tragically, Kyu Sakamoto was killed in an airplane crash in 1985. (he was 44 years old) / Kyu Sakamoto was not Jewish tho rumours have it Kyu sang “Hava Nageela” at a Capitol Records party in Tokyo.

My wife and I live on less than 35K a year, yet many that know us think we are Well To Do. We both come from poor families, I do not believe my parents ever earned more than 20K a year, while both parents worked. We learned the value of saving, using credit only as a means to buy what we could not pay cash for. I do not give my money away but pay those whom I hire well. Both my husband & I grew up poor. I, from a family of 9, his dad died when hubby was 7 yrs. old & bro was 12. His mother worked cleaning Doctor’s offices until she got a matron’s job. My dad was a carpenter & worked his head off for us. He never drank or allowed swearing in the home.I worked from age 14 & made my clothes from age of 13. Tried to save money and never bot anything on credit. I wish we could have earned what Congress members do. They don’t want to work for our income. No Way!
