Jews have been involved in the American dream since colonial times. A good read on the subject is Jews on the Frontier: An Account of Jewish Pioneers and Settlers in Early America. The first white man to spend a year in what is now called Pittsburgh was a Jew. The first land deed in Georgia was to a Jew. Washington would have surrendered at Valley Forge if not for a Jew celebrating Chanukah. There is a long list of major and minor contributions to the creation of the US by Jews.

Emanuel was born in Jerusalem in 1927 and was a member of the Zionist paramilitary organization Irgun before immigrating to the United States to work as a pediatrician. One would expect much more from them!
