Can I Blame Costco For That? . . . The Short Answer Is No.
Costco is a Billion Dollar Retailer, with a Business Model that Has to Generate a Minimal Profit for it to be Successful. So Who Do I Blame?

I have half a thought. Maybe one should look at the the cost of living in the countries where many of the goods or parts of products purchased in Canada & the U.S. come from. How does the wage scale compare to us in North America. I certainly am happy living where I am even though I get very frustrated with the politics and some of the other life styles around me. But that is their choice, not mine. let us try to care more about those around us.
Trump is setting himself up for disappointment in the midterms because of rise in prices at Walmart, significantly affects his base. Gasoline prices have not gone down since he took office, as promised. His voters are now subjected to airplane gifts from Qatar & cryto billionaires dining with him at Mar-a-Largo. Eric Trump & Witkoff’s son Zach appear to be the new Hunter equivalents, minus the crack. Still, what matters most is how he will react when Israel attacks Iran’s nucs on June 5th.

Trump got pissed at Walmart when they said they would raise prices due to tariffs. WTF did Trump think Walmart would do when its cost of goods went up due to Trump tariffs? Eat the losses? Trump is surrounded with a bunch of economic idiots who don’t know the difference between a trade deficit and a fiscal deficit. Then the Moron-in-Chief threatens Apple with tariffs, sending AAPL into the tank – AGAIN. I voted for Trump (my 1st choice was DeSantis). I didn’t vote for this chaotic insanity.
In my town, COSTCO has raised the prices on coffee, also. Oh yes, $24 for Folgers. So they figure if YOU can pay it, so can the USA. Yes I am aware WE import coffee. Pretty Slick. However; we have a Detroit Lions Coffee Bean that is only $7.00 per bag. I have no problem GRINDING THE BEANS. Have had a Coffee Grinder for years. I came home with 6 bags of ‘LIONS’ & threw them in the FREEZER. Great money saver.
CANADIANS HAD A CHOICE OF VOTING FOR ANTI-SEMITISM AND BAD GOVERNMENT OR FOR THE TORIES. THEY CHOSE ANTI-SEMITISM. I’VE HEARD COMPLAINTS FROM VERY FEW. The growing concern is that because of the tariff chaos Trump has created the mid-terms will bring disastrous results for the Republicans. The tentacles of Democrat revenge will be far reaching. Each year many, if not most Canadians, combine a short holiday trip into the towns and cities across northern US states, with a moderate shopping spree. Unfortunately, Canadians can no longer afford to visit US retailers, clothiers, restauranteurs, hoteliers, whom an economic disaster has befallen.
The intent of tariffs is to bring manufacturing back into the U.S.A. That is a slow process and will take time. I remember when CAFTA was enacted in 2004. Then NAFTA was a trade agreement between the United States, Canada and Mexico, replaced by the USMCA in 2020. These are all agreements between unequal economies. Each one was bound to draw manufacturing away from the U.S. Trump is simply using tariffs to draw manufacturing back. Patience will pay off.
So, will Trump forego tariffs when it becomes OBVIOUS who it affects most–the low-income families & low-income seniors? I hope so. Someone insinuated his advisers don’t have a clue of the trickle-down consequences; so neither does DJT. Hope & pray he wakes up soon to the financial devastation to the less fortunate these huge price increases will have shortly. Being frugal won’t help much in that kind of situation.
I love Trump on Israel and other issues but tariffs? Pure ignorance! France Uk and Carney, I totally agree with you I would never wish anyone I like so much to be sick, but the articles since your recovery have been brilliant (I agree with the 3 of them 100%, so they must be brilliant) .
