Rosh Hashanah . . . or However one Decides to Spell it, is the Jewish New Year, which at Sundown (Today) on September 29, 2019 – will Welcome 5780-Years of Jewish Belief in God, from the Time of Jewish Belief in Creation.
I am Not a Religious Man, as Many of You Know . . . But I Am Jewish. And as a Jew, in my Modest Way, Anne & I Will Celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
We will Light Candles & Utter a Prayer for the Light Upon The World & the Warmth the Lit Candles Bring to our Home. We will Drink some Kosher Wine (Manischewitz) & Recite the Prayer Giving Thanks to God for the Fruit of the Vine. We willl Recite the Prayer for the Challah (Jewish Egg Bread), Giving Thanks to God for the Food upon our Table, which we will Soon Enjoy.
And We’ll Make A Blessing Over A Slice Of Apple Dipped In Honey – Praying For a Sweet New Year.
We’ll Utter a Prayer Giving Thanks for Our Return to Jerusalem & Thanks for Donald Trump, who Made our Full Return to Jerusalem Possible. And we will Give Thanks to the Men & Women of the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces), for Being The Guardians At The Gate.
And We Will Remember Our Loved-Ones, Family & Friends Who Are No Longer With Us.
We will Eat Chicken Soup & Traditional Jewish Festival Food with the Manischewitz Wine and the Challah. We will Eat a Delicious Roasted Brisket Created with my own Culinary Talent. And we will Eat a Roasted Leg of Lamb, all of which with Latkes (Potato Pancakes) and Salads on the Side.
Anne And I . . . In Spite Of Whatever Hardships We Have Experienced Over The Years – Will Give Thanks . . . Because We’ve Both Been Truly Blessed.
And We’ll Give Thanks For All That We Have, For our Family & Friends. For Our Horses, Our April The Cat, And Especially Stryker.
The Preceding & Forthcoming Are Why I Fight.
Anne & I Will Drive To Montreal Today After Lunch, to the Cemetery where my Parents are Buried Side By Side. And we will Give Thanks to Them, for being Wonderful Parents, who Blessed our Marriage, who Set us on a Married Path to Mutual Loyalty Through Thick & Thin, with Honor & Decency Until Death Does Us Part.
Today . . . On One Of Judaism’s Holier Days – we are Bearing Witness to a Political Horror Show, where Most of our Leaders have Abandoned all Decency & Commitment to their Oath to Make their Respective Governments, Top Through Bottom – Responsible to the People, who have Placed so Much Trust in Those, who Through their Own Actions . . . Have Proven We Should Be Trusting Them The Least.
THE GREAT JEWISH SAGE – HILLEL . . . BORN NEAR A CENTURY BEFORE CHRIST SAID:
If I Am Not For Myself? Who Will Be For Me? And If I Am Only For Myself, Who Am I? And If Not Now . . . When?
I Feel As If I’ve Been Given A Great Gift . . . To be Able to Communicate, and to See the World & Humanity, Not as I Would Like to See the World & Humanity, but in all Reality, to See & Understand how Mankind and the World Really Are.
I Believe . . . If God Gave Us Any Gift – It is the Gift for us to See Good from Evil, and the Ability to Know One from the Other, and the Courage to Do What is Right.
And if I don’t Do What I Can to Make a Difference . . . It will be my Betrayal to the More than 2,000-Year Jewish Philosophy of Hillel, and a Greater Betrayal to all the Values Instilled Upon Me By My Wonderful Parents.
