I had the Displeasure of watching CNN this morning, to see how they were covering the Florida Mass Shooting . . . and TRUE TO FORM, CNN distorted, misled, and used the Shooting as a Symbol to Press their Favorite Mantra . . . BAN THE GUNS!
SO LET ME MAKE THIS AS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE . . .
There Is No CURE For Mental Illness. And no matter how much People want to Ban Guns, you CANNOT Ban Mental Disease . . . PERIOD – FULL STOP!
And if a Deranged Person wants to MURDER People . . . he or she will find a way, whether with a Vehicle, a Knife, a Baseball Bat – Right Down To Bare Fists.
As A Matter Of Fact . . . There Is A Full Buffet On How To Kill People.
I PERSONALLY KNOW MORE ABOUT GUNS THAN 99% OF THE GUN-HATERS:
So Let’s Get Honest . . .
1 – There is no such thing as an Assault Weapon, since a BB Gun could be used for the purpose of Assault – and so can a Knife.
2 – Automatic Weapons Are Already Banned Throughout America.
3 – It is Against the Law to Convert any Gun to Become an Automatic Weapon.
4 – An AR-15 is no More Lethal than a 22-Caliber “Squirrel” Gun.
5 – The Media should know what they’re Reporting . . . THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS CLIPS – The Device where the Bullets are Stored, and from where the Bullets are Fed to the Firing Mechanism, are called Magazines. Clips were used Generations ago, predominantly in the Military, to provide Already Loaded Bullets for Quick Insertion Into a Combat Rifle, and then Discarded when Empty. Today, everyone uses Magazines.
6 – Limiting the Size of MAGAZINES, meaning the Number of Bullets per Magazine is a Fool’s Errand, since Shooters like Anne & Myself, who are not Combatants, but Compete in Action Shooting, can Drop a Magazine and Insert a Replacement in Literally a Second or Two . . . And that’s on the Run.
7 – Bullet Size . . . the Bullet is the PROJECTILE, The “thing” that “Shoots” out of the Barrel, usually made of Lead, but can be made out of any Metal, which explodes away from the Cartridge, which is Either Left in the Gun, or Expelled when Shot from a Semi or Fully Automatic Firearm.
And to give you a Parallel . . . A 223, which is Fired through an AR-15, is really nothing much more than a 22 Fired at a much Higher Velocity.
8 – Semi-Automatic Guns Include . . . Pistols, Rifles & Shotguns. Fully Automatic Guns also Include Pistols & Rifles – But Primarily Rifles . . . AND ALL AUTOMATIC GUNS IN THE USA ARE ILLEGAL, which can only be Owned by Special Permit.
I Can’t Say This Too Much . . . AUTOMATIC Firearms Are Illegal to Sell!
So . . . When I heard the Anchor on CNN this Morning, speaking about the AR-15 as an Assault Weapon, that could easily be Modified to become Fully Automatic, or Partially Fully Automatic, what was he trying to Prove? What was his Point?
Anne & I Shoot between 200 & 300 Rounds Each . . . Every Week. And most of our Friends are also Shooters in Canada and the USA. So What Does That Make Us?
9 – As for Bullet Size & Lethality . . . a 223 or 556, which are the two Caliber Sizes Fired by AR-15’s, are no more Deadly than a 22 Caliber, since they both Kill. As a matter of Fact & Record, Israel’s Commando Hit-Men used 22-Caliber Bullets, when getting Close & Personal with an Enemy. And I’m sure they and other Military Hit-Men still do.
10 – Only The Barrel Of A Gun Is Lethal – The Rest Is Window Dressing.
WHO RELISHES IN MASS SHOOTINGS?
As Sick As This Is . . . The Gun-Haters LOVE-IT when there are Mass Shootings. And so does the Media, since hardly anything can Gin-Up Viewers, Listeners & Readers more than a Good Old Fashioned Slaughter, where and when every Indignant News Person can show his or her Absolute Concern and Revulsion as they Play & Preen for the Cameras, Listeners Or Readers.
And then comes the Army of Experts . . . Who Make Their Living Writing & Speaking about Mass Shootings. Otherwise – what else would they have to Peddle?
BUT WHERE’S THE MEDIA . . . when it comes to THOUSANDS OF DEATHS EVERY DAY, caused by Drugs & Drug Overdoses, Fatal Car Crashes because of Texting, and Beatings, Rapes, Terror & Murders in America by Vicious Gangs?
Where are the Stories and Outrages on Forced Prostitution Here in America? And what about the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of Illegal Immigrants, who are brought into America through a Porous Border, who are Literally Forced into Slavery?
It seems to me . . . that the only time the Media Really gets INDIGNANT, is when their Pet Whipping Boy – Guns & Gun Control Become The Issue.
PS . . . If the Media is all so Concerned with Guns, Gun Violence, Misogyny, Rape, Beatings & Mayhem . . . Perhaps the Media should RAIL AGAINST UBER LIBERAL Producers, Directors & Actors . . . so they should STOP MAKING BILLIONS of Dollars Peddling Unlimited Violence on the Big & Small Screens.
And maybe the LEFT should Rethink the Sickness Behind their Produced Video Games, which are Nothing More Than CARNAGE ON STEROIDS.
There is no question . . . The Florida High School Shooting is Terrible, but these Shootings happen just now and then, while the Preceding are EPIDEMIC.
How many YOUNG PEOPLE ARE DYING EVERYDAY, because their Not-Yet Developed Brains are being Fed Poison & Hatred by their Teachers who no longer Espouse Real Values, Single Parent Families where the Mother is too often a Kid Herself, the Crap on TV, in the Theaters, on Video Games, and on the Internet?
And what about all these Sick & Racist Hate Movements, which are Promoted by the LEFT & Media, such as Black Lives Matter & ANTIFA . . . and where our Children and Young Adults are Brainwashed Daily in their High Schools & Universities, into Hating their own Country, the History of their own Country, their Police & the MAKERS who make a Good Life Possible?

Keep telling it like it is Howard. Make no mistake about it, Rudy Giuliani was right on target. President Obama has done way to much on his own without the United Satates people’s authorization. howard, I love your blog, and have actually contributed to the cause a couple of times. on the subject of fully automatic weapons.. people can purchase them in the us ,if they were made prior to may of 1986,.. they must pay a $200 tax to the atf and pass a rigorous background check

There are gun laws in countries like France, yet criminals have no problem in obtaining the firepower that they want. Gun laws serve only to hurt and diminish the law-abiding, while they empower the criminals. As for the impact of guns alone? Youths today are being left behind in droves by parents, gov’ts and school systems that ignore, sacrifice, mistreat, mislead, baby and somehow cannot get their act together when it comes to raising them. And as a result children are either not growing up or growing up seriously hampered or stunted. This is an epidemic our society and media have no backbone to acknowledge or tackle.

My good friend’s grandchildren were in the school at the time of the massacre. They came out unharmed. If a good guy with a gun was around at the time of the shooting, maybe the victims would have been fewer. Survivors are traumatized. Victims’ families are shattered. I am a gun owner and a 2A “true believer” who carries a concealed weapon all the time. That said, I do NOT believe an 18 year old who’s prohibited from buying beer should be able to buy an AR15 and high powered ammo.
If you have to be 18 to buy beer why not 21 to buy a gun or ammo? It won’t solve all the problems but it would be a start…
I recently returned home from a cruise to Hawaii. I was not surprised to meet many of your fellow Canadians on this cruise. I actually had several opportunities to visit with many of them…I now understand what your up against in your own country. I suggested your column to one person and was told that if I liked it she doubted that she would…her answer to our illegal problem was, THEY need your help.
