Watching From The Sidelines Is Not An Option

On November 9, 2010 I wrote: “If You Can Change It – You Just Can’t Sit It Out”. And ended the editorial with the following:

“In my next editorial, I’ll tell you why people like Christine O’Donnell deserve a world of respect, and what might be my next decision.”

This isn’t about Christine O’Donnell as much as it is about how much garbage she was willing and capable of enduring, just so she could legitimately campaign to win a Seat in government.

O’Donnell was viciously and repeatedly attacked from the LEFT and from many within the ESTABLISHMENT Republican Party for all kinds of stupid allegations, BUT NOT ONCE ON THE PRINCIPLES FOR WHICH SHE STOOD.

But, in spite of the avalanche of crap they threw at this young woman, she didn’t flinch, she didn’t cower, she didn’t beg or ask for mercy, and she NEVER backed down on the principles she brought to the table, which her opposition refused to debate.

Anyone who thinks that it’s easy to take this type of abuse from all sides, don’t have a clue. No one likes to be called a kook and be ridiculed. And no one’s skin is that thick that it doesn’t hurt.

But nonetheless, Christine O’Donnell took it and carried-on to the bitter end. SHE’S A HERO! And she’s not the only one.

These are the people who more than anyone else should be looked at most seriously as candidates worth considering, if for no other reason than for their TRUE GRIT and stick-to-it-ness.

If you are happy with the government we have – good on you . . . don’t even bother to read-on. But, if you’re like me, you should be as angry today as you were yesterday, simply because nothing has really changed yet. It is looking good, but until things really start to change, anger is the right emotion.

GOVERNMENT DIGNITY ABUSE:

When I watch what the TSA (American Travel Security Administration) is doing at airports for passenger flight security, I have to wonder which rabbit-hole the IDIOTS-IN-CHARGE crawled out of?

I for one do NOT want to succumb to a full body-scan simply to fly from one destination to another. How intrusive is that?

BUT WORSE – Amongst the last thing I would want is to have some guy or woman pat me down INCLUDING my “JUNK”, so as to speak.

And for the life of me, I can’t understand how ANYONE could accept this humiliating and obscene intrusion in silence. Yet, with the exception of a few people who are sufficiently and publicly outraged, it seems that almost EVERYONE else is allowing this to happen in spite of how pissed-off they might be.

I have a suggestion that would stop this GROSS government intrusion into everyone’s dignity. MAKE THE POLITICIANS GO THROUGH THE SCANNERS AND THE PAT DOWNS.

Could you imagine how sickening it would be to look at Janet Napolitano’s “JUNK” or have to be the one to pat her down “JUNK” and all?

DOUBLE STANDARDS FOR ONE OF THEIR OWN:

CHARLIE Rangel, who has enjoyed a story-book life as a Member of Congress used his enormous influence like a battering ram, spending other people’s money (taxpayers) as if it were his own, was found GUILTY of ELEVEN of thirteen Counts of misconduct (ethic violations) which included everything from tax evasion, misuse of funds, and LYING.

So what’s his punishment going to be? How about possible censure and a written reprimand entered into his file?

I bet you can all remember what happened to Martha Stewart and Scooter Libby who lied to the authorities about things that were a fraction as egregious as what Rangel has been found GUILTY of doing.

This isn’t just an American “thing”. It is a political obscenity that permeates all governments at all levels in the USA, Canada and all Democracies, where politicians and bureaucrats feel entitled and superior, where the rules don’t apply to them.

ONTARIO – PART OF CANADA’S INSANITY:

In the Province of Ontario where I live, I just discovered from a neighbor that he paid $70,000 with a government secured loan to install Solar Panels on his property. And from what he told me, everyone with a barn-roof or large field is doing it too.

I asked him why he spent $70,000 on an “investment” that could NEVER pay for itself in energy savings? Oh, but it can. And it will said my neighbor.

Hydro-One, which is the Ontario Government’s electric suppler (monopoly), will buy 100% of all the Solar Power generated at $0.80 per kilowatt-hour. OK, but Hydro-One sells its electricity for about $0.08 per kilowatt-hour.

What am I missing here?

Why would Hydro-One pay MORE than TEN TIMES the cost of electricity than what they sell it for? And who’s going to pick up the GARGANTUAN loss?

WHY? – BECAUSE IT’S THE “GREEN” THING TO DO.

And because there’s no one standing tall enough to stop these LEFTIST idiots from burying the taxpayers under a mountain of government debt, with energy costs that are making it very difficult for people to heat their homes, drive their cars, and run their businesses.

So you might ask – Why aren’t people standing up to fight against this astronomical stupidity? Because good people are shutout of the political process, and don’t want to get beaten up running for office, especially after seeing what happens to people like O’Donnell.

And how can anyone blame them?

And in Canada, if you’re not running under a Party Banner, you might as well NOT run at all. And if you are going to try to run under a Party Banner, be prepared to walk the Party Line, or don’t even make the effort, because they won’t have you regardless to how much you can bring to the table, or how many people would want to vote for you.

I promised myself after the last time I ran as an INDEPENDENT candidate a few years ago in the last Federal election, that it was going to be the last time I put myself through the wringer. BUT, I can’t just sit here writing editorials and producing audio broadcasts while horrible people are destroying my province and country.

As it was said before: IF NOT NOW – WHEN? IF NOT HERE – WHERE? IF NOT ME – WHO?

I have asked the Conservative Party of Ontario for an application to run as a candidate for the nomination to represent them in the Riding where I live in Stormont, Dundas & South Glengarry. After two weeks and numerous phone calls I’m still waiting for the application form.

I have begun to put together a campaign team in anticipation that my application will be accepted if I ever receive one. But for all I know, they might turn me down flat because of the very Conservative Constitutional positions I have taken in defense of Freedom of Expression.

Parties don’t seem to like outspoken candidates who actually stand for something. But I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.

What I do know is that I CANNOT just sit back and watch incompetent people play fast and loose with our hard-earned tax dollars, our freedoms, and future prosperity without giving it my best shot.

My campaign platform is simple:

1 – REDUCE TAXES.

2 – REDUCE THE SIZE AND COST OF GOVERNMENT.

3 – ELIMINATE UNNECESSARY INTRUSIVE REGULATIONS.

4 – MAKE ENERGY USE AFFORDABLE.

If just these four issues are dealt with, Ontario will once again become the place to invest, the place to live, and the engine that will drive Canada as it used to until the LEFTISTS took charge with hardly a whimper from the RIGHT.
