Even though language challenges have been the hot topic on Galganov Dot Com, there are other compelling issues that are driving me crazy.
The most important and critical of all of them is how Israel’s Prime Minister will do to Israel, what all of Israel’s many enemies worldwide could not, and otherwise cannot do.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has set in motion the wheels that can lead to the destruction of Israel.
All of us – Canadian, American and the like, should pay very close attention to the horrors that can befall a country that is led by a visionless cowardly leader who will do what is popular, opposed to what is necessary and right.
It takes real courage to stand up for what is right, opposed to what is expedient. History has proven time and again, that the coward’s way is the way to perdition.
That placating and appeasing evil is an invitation for evil to enter through the front door.
That moderation in place of extremism is far too often a death sentence.
At the bottom of my Home Page is a quote from the late US Senator Barry Goldwater:
“Extremism In The Defense Of Liberty Is No Vice. And Moderation In The Pursuit Of Justice Is No Virtue”.
TRUER WORDS WERE NEVER SPOKEN.
Wednesday morning (July 16, 2008) saw the continuing surrender of Israeli principles and courage to its most vile and beatable enemy. Israel traded live Arab murderers of Jews for the dead violated bodies of two Israeli soldiers.
The two Israeli soldiers were delivered via Hezbollah in coffins. In exchange for the bodies of these two, Israel concluded the final chapter in a war with TERRORISTS it had badly lost two summers ago.
The two returned bodies of the Jewish soldiers have been described by EVERY media that I’ve seen, read and heard; as two Israeli soldiers who were CAPTURED by Hezbollah that precipitated the Lebanese/Israeli war.
Here’s the REAL TRUTH opposed to what the media says and doesn’t say.
The two Jewish Israeli soldiers were not captured. They were kidnapped.
The news reports failed to state that the Jewish soldiers were taken from Israeli territory during a time when there was no war.
They also failed to report that the two Israelis were most likely taken alive. But now they’re dead. How did they die? Who killed them? How badly were they tortured before the Arab murderers extinguished the essences of their lives?
The world is up in arms over the fabricated “horrible” treatment Moslem TERRORIST suspects have ‘supposedly’ received at Gitmo, but not a word is whispered about the murder of two Israelis kidnapped from their own country.
Ehud Olmert said at the time of the kidnapping: We will do whatever is necessary to bring back our two soldiers including going to war. And to war Olmert went.
But he lost the war he refused to allow his Defense Forces to fight. He didn’t save or bring back the two Israeli kidnap victims as he promised. And he lost all respect Israel had throughout the world for its military competence and national determination.
Olmert has opened the door as wide as he could for Israel’s Arab and international enemies to walk through without even firing a shot.
This is the consequence of bad leadership. This is the consequence of political opportunism. This is the consequence of people who vote for politicians who offer platitudes and empty promises opposed to the hard truth.
Neville Chamberlain, who made a ‘deal’ with Hitler, is long dead, but his spirit is very much alive, and very much evident in the multitude of leaders who are cursing our planet.
I have enormous fear for the short and long-term future of Israel. But I feel the same for the long and short-term future of Canada, the USA and much of the Western World.
We are indeed cursed with politicians who stand for everything but courage and principle.
Our fight over language rights in Canada might seem trivial to many, but it is not. It is at the very heart of the future of Canada. It is the essence of whether we live in a FREE SOCIETY that guarantees individual rights, or whether we live in a society where RIGHTS are privileges decided upon by a few.
Bad leadership will destroy good countries. And cowardice from the top is all that is needed for a country to fall. Like so many countries, Canada also has bad leadership that is allowing the enemies from within, to eat away at our very fiber.
I am indeed sickened by what is happening abroad and at home. If ever there was a time for a Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, or Menachem Begin, the time is now.
My next editorial will deal with Canada’s fight for a Charter of Rights and Freedoms that is carved in stone opposed to being a set of privileges to be modified at someone’s whim.
If all we can do as individuals is fight only one major battle at a time. This is my battle here and now. I fear for Israel, but there is nothing I can do there. Canada is my home, and here is where I will make my stand.
Best Regards . . . Howard Galganov

Shades of 1939-41. Face it. We’re in WWIII. But this time
as we circle the wagons we have to look inward as well
as outward to see the enemy.
