For the people who regularly visit Galganov Dot Com, you’ve probably noticed that there hasn’t been anything new since November 10, 2006.
Reason being: mostly, I’ve been traveling for business.
And when I’ve been at home, I’ve spent much of my time preparing the property for winter, especially the horse areas where the three big boys and the little pony will have a great deal of winter space to run and play.
Unless you have beloved animals in your family as we do, it might be hard for you to imagine how much pleasure it gives Anne and myself to do things for the pets.
ALSO: Even though much has been happening in the world, there hasn’t been anything that has really captured my imagination to trigger an Editorial.
But maybe that’s not entirely true, considering the usual mayhem caused by the Moslems and Arabs. Take the most recent assassination of a Lebanese Cabinet Minister for example.
But the Moslems and Arabs are always busy screwing themselves and the rest of the world, that writing about them has become somewhat repetitive. It’s not as if this is the first or the last Arab politician who will die at the hands of a fellow Arab.
But here’s an issue that has nothing to do with Moslems and Arabs that’s been pissing me off.
Christmas is upon us once more, and the folks at broadcast places like FOX News (my favorite) are once again banging on their drum in their phony war against the perceived “enemy within”, whom are supposedly at war with Christmas.
The likes of Bill O’Reilly and others, are their usual apoplectic selves over the stores who wish people a “Happy Holiday” rather than a Merry Christmas.
Or whom have “Holiday Sales” opposed to Christmas Sales. Or who don’t show the Nativity Scene . . . etc.
All I can say to all of the O’Reilly’s out there is: GET A LIFE!
What business is it of theirs’ if someone wants to say “Happy Holidays” instead of Merry Christmas? And what does all this merchandising have to do with the birth of Christ anyway?
America, but not exclusively America, is facing a vicious enemy whose ONLY motivation for world dominance is religion. Shouldn’t that be telling the O’Reilly’s of the world something about pushing religion?
Here’s a news flash for O’Reilly and others who share their passion for pushing Christmas and seeing enemies’ of Christmas around every corner.
AMERICA IS A SECULAR STATE!
I know that there is a reference to God in the US Constitution, as there is a reference to God in the swearing of Allegiance to the Flag. And I can read In God We Trust on US currency and elsewhere.
So what?
What does all the reference to God mean in a country where the FIRST AMMENDMENT states that:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”.
So, whose God are the O’Reilly types referring to?
I have no problem saying Merry Christmas, singing Christmas Carols and seeing Nativity Scenes in store windows.
I have no problem with any of that.
But I do have a problem with Right Wing media members and others who DEMAND that Christmas should or must be included in the public arena, and FORCED upon retailers who don’t want to make the Christian religious holiday a religious part of their marketing program.
The FIRST AMMENDMENT is very clear about religion in America. Yet, these Right Wing flag-wavers who try to sell themselves as being super-Americans are amongst the first to ignore the FIRST principle of the Founding Fathers.
I like Christmas. And I’m never offended by Christmas decorations. Anne and I will spend this Christmas at Time’s Square in New York City, and we will make certain to see the lit tree at Rockefeller Plaza.
This is a nice time of the year. But it should be absorbed by the populace, not because O’Reilly and company are using their media positions to bully governments and businesses to comply to their ideals.
But rather – because it’s simply a nice time of the year.
And for O’Reilly: He should take another look at the US Bill Of Rights and understand what it really means opposed to what he wants it to mean.
Also: O’Reilly and others haven’t been so protective of Christmas to miss the opportunity for themselves to make an awful lot of money hawking their books and media shows in their personal “crusade” to save Christmas.
Find me an outraged media person and I’ll show you someone out there to make money from the outrage.
To all of them I say – HUMBUG and Happy Holiday or Merry Christmas. Or perhaps even a little Happy Chanukah.
But I draw the line at Kwanza. We already have enough made-up religions without adding yet another to the mix.

I’m really beginning to believe that with his lack of action in places like Libya, Syria, Iraq, Iran, etc., etc., Obama is fulfilling his contribution toward the development of not only a Muslim caliphate, but a nuclear-armed Muslim caliphate. May God help us all.
