Yesterday, August 18, 2005, Stirling Faux of White Water British Columbia (45 minutes South of Vancouver) and I spoke about the real threat of Western separation.
With the appointment of Canada’s newest Governor General from Quebec, who is very much suspected of being a Quebec Separatist sympathizer (with good reason), the West is just shaking its collective head in disgust.
Western Canada; which includes Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia feel very much outside of the Ottawa, Quebec, Ontario loop with good reason.
There already is a significant Separatist momentum building in the West. And it won’t take much more from Ottawa, and Ottawa’s fixation with Quebec to send it into high-speed.
And inward-looking Ontario (specifically Toronto) isn’t helping matters either.
The arrogance of Ontario is such; that this huge, wealthy and multi-faceted province is oblivious to what is happening in the rest of Canada. It’s as if Canada is all about Ontario; and whether this is true or not, it doesn’t sit too well with the West.
My belief is that Canada might very well Deconfederate, more because of the West than because of Quebec.

Hobby Lobby doesn’t have any problem paying for contraception–what they do NOT want to pay for is abortifacients like Plan B or RU-486 that can induce an early pregnancy abortion. They are and were fine with their insurance paying for birth control, they just don’t want to pay for abortions. That’s what everyone seems to be missing in the SCOTUS decision. It was NEVER about birth control, it was always about abortion.
