Gilles Duceppe – The Quebec Separatist Fraud

The Bloc Québécois were supposed to be a temporary group in Ottawa. Not more than one term. But something strange happened on the way to Parliament Hill.

Gilles Duceppe, leader of the “federal” Quebec Separatist Bloc Québécois had the chance to cross the great nationalist divide and lead his cherished ethnocentric province of Quebec into nationhood.

But instead, he walked away.

For my American readers (and others), the Separatists of Quebec decided about a decade and a half ago (officially in 1991) that they should sit in Ottawa as “federal” Members of Parliament, for the exclusive purpose of working to take Quebec out of Canada.

The Bloc Québécois were supposed to be a temporary group in Ottawa. Not more than one term. But something strange happened on the way to Parliament Hill.

The Quebec Separatists discovered that Ottawa was a very civilized place from where to work. They also discovered that Canada’s Members of Parliament earn a great deal of money for very little work. And they have some of the finest travel, living and office perks imaginable.

They will also enjoy a federal pension that will keep them in the lap of luxury for the rest of their lives, long after their political careers are over.

And there’s one more feature to the “job” that trumps all others: They don’t have to do a damn thing to enjoy all of these benefits. All they have to do is win their seat by promising to protect the interests of Quebecers in Canada’s capital.

And from there, it’s the easy life for them.

Next to being a Senator, being a Quebec Separatist in Ottawa is without question, the greatest gig in Canada. And they don’t want to leave.

If you were them, would you?

Gilles Duceppe had the opportunity to leave the leadership of the pretend Separatist Bloc Quebec in Ottawa, for the leadership of the REAL Separatist Parti Québécois in Quebec City; and he said no.

Gilles Duceppe is no fool when it comes to protecting his own ass. Why give up an Ottawa gravy-train for a Quebec City viper’s pit?

In essence though, Gilles Duceppe has proven once and for all that his dream for Quebec sovereignty comes second to his reality of a great cushy job, in a place where he has to do nothing.

I think the same can be said for just about all of Quebec’s so-called Separatists. Quebec separation above everything else, other than their own personal comfort and security.

  1. Thank-you! The opinions of liberals border on mental illness. Why SHOULD we subject ourselves to reading that?
I agree that the stock market is nothing more than a game. Eventually it will all fall down. Scares me to think about my 401K vanishing. Mississippi… sickening. In 2016 when the establishment runs one of their cronies, I will sit the election out.
