There’s A New Sherif In Town

Not only did Bush and his team ride into Bagdad with all guns blazing, they believed more could be done. It seems he and his people were right.

My-my how things do seem to change.

Not a year ago, the entire world save a few countries (Canada not being one of the few) were calling George W Bush a Cowboy.

He was reckless. And he showed no regard for the “world community”.

Just one year later: there’s Democracy in Afghanistan, a country the American Liberals and world body said would be a QUAGMIRE if American and coalition troops tried to tame it.

It isn’t yet perfect, but it’s light years ahead of where it was before Bush rode into town.

Even though there were UN resolutions piled to the ceiling condemning Saddam Hussein and his Iraq, the world body did nothing to enforce them. But Bush did.

And when George W ordered the removal by force of Saddam and his torturing and murdering thugs, the American Liberals and the entire world save a few countries (Canada not being one of the few) were again calling George W Bush a Cowboy.

He was reckless. And he showed no regard for the “world community”. Just like a broken record – no?

Just one year later: there’s Democracy in Iraq, a country the American Liberals and world body said would be a QUAGMIRE if American and coalition troops tried to tame it.

They were wrong again.

I always believed the Americans should have gone into Iraq, cleaned house and then head for home. I also thought the whole “free world” should have been there with them.

Not only did Bush and his team ride into Bagdad with all guns blazing, they believed more could be done. It seems he and his people were right.

Then there’s Israel and the Palestinians.

Where the rest of the world kissed the ass of a mass murderer (Yasser Arafat), Bush called him a TERRORIST, an impediment to peace, and cut him off cold.

Bush also gave Israel a free hand in hunting down and bringing TERRORISTS to justice. And he didn’t say boo about Israel’s Security Barrier, while the rest of the world were busy comparing it to Apartheid and the Berlin Wall.

The Palestinians finally got the message. Israel was here to stay. And they needed a serious attitude adjustment.

And then Arafat (the Bastard) died.

Maybe even murdered.

Maybe by the Palestinians who took his place.

We’ll never know.

But what we do know is that there is an incredible effort by the Palestinians (FINALLY) to make peace and end their reign of TERROR against their innocent Jewish neighbors and behave like a civilized people.

And now Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, and a very worried Saudi Arabia (the Iranians are beyond worried with every right to be) are watching their Thugocracies being turned upside down.

Even Egypt is talking about Democracy. Who would ever have thought?

While it is true that all of this can come smashing apart, and it’s more likely that it will than it won’t, nonetheless; for the time being it’s all coming together. And it’s all because of George W Bush.

All of the weak-kneed, squeamish and dishonest governments (especially France) had nothing to do with any of this, but that doesn’t slow them down from having opinions and a desire to be Johnny-come-lately participants.

If it seems that the USA is now cooperating with the UN, EU and all the other alphabets as they would like the world to believe. Don’t believe it.

It’s far more the other way around.

America is being unbelievably gracious to the loser-nations who put their greed and cowardice above international responsibility, simply by letting bygones be bygones, and giving these ne’er-do-well nations the undeserved largesse of saving face.

As I wrote in the preceding, all of this can fall apart, but at least it’s looking better for the security of the word today, than it did prior to 9/11.

As President George W Bush would say: The bad guys are on the run. The good guys are on the hunt. And the townsfolk can sleep a little bit better. There’s a new sherif in town.

You just gotta love a cowboy.

  1. Beaut story. Felt as if I were there. Is 80 too old to learn how to ride a bike?
Kind of an anology. Just drove to Italy from Belgium? Overnighted in Lermoos Austria. Met some bikers from
Norway! Just ambling along kind of headed for Italy. Looked like the meanest guys you could imagine.
Turned out the nicest bunch of chaps anywhere.
