I Am Very Disappointed In The Ottawa Citizen – Letter To The Editor

To create a balance where no such balance exists, is dishonest and a demonstration of poor journalism for your newspaper.

Your cartoon of Monday, September 10, 2001 depicting an Arab in a PLO shirt, and an Israeli in an Israeli settler shirt was unfair and dishonest.

The Arab in the PLO shirt was seen writing graffiti on a rock wall that said: “Zionism Equals Racism”. And just a few meters away on the same wall, the Israeli settler wrote: “Arabism Equals Terrorism”.

While it is true that the PLO and its many affiliates routinely decry Zionism as a racist movement, as was witnessed at the Durban spectacle, it is totally untrue that Israel has ever equated Arabism to terrorism.

You can certainly make the argument that the PLO speaks exclusively on the behalf of the Palestinian people. But; where does your cartoonist get off suggesting that Israeli settlers speak on anyone’s behalf other than their own?

To create a balance where no such balance exists, is dishonest and a demonstration of poor journalism for your newspaper.

  1. Thanks for being one of the good guys Mr. Galganov, both of our countries have much to teach the world ,and possibly a few things can be learned from each other. Both countries need people like you to sound the alarm against tyranny and the lies the power hungry in government fling at us daily in order to keep their power. Without those of you willing to speak the truth ,even more would follow these fools into the depths of socialism or worse.
