Most Great Nations Seem To Reach Their Climax Within The First Hundred Years. And by the Quarter Millennia, those Nations Begin to Fade into their Own Morass. Will America Be Any Different?
A Short While Ago, a Reader of Galganov.com Sent me an Observation Similar to this . . . A Country With Nothing, That Strives & Achieves To Have Everything, Eventually Loses Everything, Once Again To Have Nothing.
I’m Soon To Be 75-Years Old . . . Yet, our Third to Last German Shepherd Dog Tavor, who we Purchased at 3-Weeks Old, and Took Into our Home at 8-Weeks Old, Taught Anne & Myself More About Life than we Ever Imagined we Would Learn at this Later Stage in our Lives.
From Day-One . . . We Loved, Nurtured & Spent a Great Deal of Time, Energy & Money Training Tavor to be a Great Family Dog. But That Was Never Going To Happen.
Tavor Was An Impeccably Bred Working Line German Shepherd Dog With 100% European Blood, Mostly from East Germany, Some from the Czech Republic, and a Smattering from West Germany. In Essence – Tavor’s Genealogy (His Nature) was to be a Type A, Aggressive Working Line German Shepherd. And No Amount Of Training, Love & Attention Was Going To Change Tavor’s Nature.
It’s Not As If Anne & I Didn’t Know The Difference Between Nature & Nurture. But Living with it and Seeing the Degrees of Separation Between the Two, Was An Education You Can’t Experience Unless You Were Part Of It.
At Two & A Half Years-Old, After Training Tavor with Two of the Best Working-Line Shepherd Trainers we Could Find, One in Ocala Florida, the Other in Ontario, Near Where we Live in the Spring through the Fall, the Risks of Keeping Tavor Alive, and to Protect the World from Tavor’s Aggression, Became Far Too Dangerous For Anne & Myself To Take The Chance.
The First Trainer, After No More than One Minute of Looking at Tavor Said Several Things. One – He Identified Tavor just From His Appearance as a Mostly East German, German-Shepherd Dog. Two – He then Said to Anne & Myself . . . This Dog Will Never Be A Pet.
The Second Trainer, Also After Looking at Tavor for Just a Moment Said to Me . . . This Dog Is Not A Pet. Think of Him as a Hand Grenade with the Pin Half Pulled. And One Day, when you Least Expect-It, the Pin will be Pulled-Out Completely, And Someone Is Going To Be Hurt Or Killed.
Tavor . . . Thanks To Anne Was Magnificently Trained, which Wasn’t the Problem, which Both Trainers Recognized from the Get-Go. What They Told Us, was that the Best they Could Do, was to Help us Learn How to Control Tavor Around People, With The Caveat, That One Day, The Worst Might Happen.
We Tried Anyways . . . Until We Realized That Nature Supersedes Nurture 100% Of The Time. And to My Great Sadness, and with Many Tears Shed that Day, We Called the Veterinarian Over to our Home, and Surrounded by Friends, We Watched As Tavor Was Peacefully Euthanized While Anne & I Held Tavor In Our Arms.
DO YOU THINK IT’S NOT HAPPENING HERE . . . HERE & NOW?
I’m Telling You This Story Because Nature Is Going To War Against Nurture In America.
The Entitled Non-Consequential Nature Of America – Canada Too, which Has Been Developing for Decades, Is About To Explode, where a Massive Number of People Believe Entitlement is their Due, Versus those of us who Believe in Nurture, that Defines Training, Learning & Work as Personal Earned Accomplishments.
And then there is the “Famous – Or More Accurately . . . The In-Famous Middle”, who Can’t Figure-Out the Moral High-Ground, where in their Thinking, Both Issues are with Merit, As Long As They Can Sit On The Edge Of The Trough, Feeding From Both Sides.
I Fear That We Have Reached The Rubicon . . . Where those who Believe they Deserve Without Merit, Will Do All They Can . . . Not to Surrender what they Have Already Grabbed – Whether Earned Or Not.
A COUNTRY THAT IS THE OPPOSITE OF A MERITOCRACY CANNOT SURVIVE:
A Society Not Governed By The Blindfolded Rule Of Law . . . Will Be Lawless.
If The Nature Of The Socio/Political Population Is Such . . . that Merit is Secondary to Unwarranted Success, and Lawlessness Depends Upon Considerations Other than the Facts at Hand, where the Dogma of . . . No One Is Above The Law . . . And No One Is Beneath The Law – is Simply Rhetoric of Empty Words – If There Is No Law . . . There Is Only Anarchy.
We Have Reached That Time In Our Existence, When we Have to Decide if we will Allow our Freedoms to Destroy our Freedoms, or if Thomas Jefferson Two Centuries Ago was Cogent – That . . . The Tree Of Liberty Must Be Refreshed From Time To Time With The Blood Of Patriots And Tyrants.
We Don’t Have To Go To War To Defend Our Freedoms . . . But Doing Nothing Is Not An Option.

And our ‘resistance’ began at the polls Nov 5th. We must persevere, especially until DJT is sworn in Jan 20th, but beyond as well. He couldn’t have chosen two more adept DOGE leaders than Mush & Ramaswamy. AND they’re not permanent nor part of the bureaucracy…AND they’re temporary. Exciting times are on the way as well as a fight for our Republic, the Constitution and our individual freedom of choice.
About 3 years ago or so I came to the conclusion that our greatest strength is our freedom and also our greatest weakness. We are free to watch and listen to about anything we want. It is also our greatest weakness as it depends on what we are listening to or watching. Wow it is great to read that you have come to the same conclusion as I really respect your rhetoric and for me to have come to your same conclusion has made my day.
Biden should have been impeached the day after he opened our borders, That act alone made a lie of his oath to defend the Constitution, and he shredded it inch by inch for 4 years. Shame on all in congress who are equally guilty of violating their oath through inaction.
The idea that we all must insure that our country and the freedoms therein remain safe is an absolute truth. We have chosen a tried and good leader in Trump to help us in this fight. The choice of establishing the DOGE will be most helpful because waste will be tossed. A good fight requires a good cleanup.Your argument about nature vs nurture is spot on—hard decisions must be made when necessary. I have straddled a century, from the beautiful, proud, patriotic, hard-working Canada I knew in my youth, to the indifferent, what’s-in-it-for-me, Country that won’t even protect it’s fine historical past, in a seriously divided world. I hope your fine message will be heard by many responsible Canadians who might actually decide to demand quality and performance from our self-centered, weak-kneed, overpaid and underperforming politicians.
Howard, big-time dog person here. So many over the years. I am sorry for your struggles & heartache with Tavor — but he was with the people he was supposed to be with. I hope you can feel that. You found each other. ♥️ And that’s everything. / Trump is a Leader. Strong. He shows wonderful years to come. Everything the country needs. I’m sure Dems see it, hear it & want him gone. And so I am concerned about Jan 6 & Jan 20. God’s blessings to him, America, Earth.
Pendulum is already starting to swing back, even before Trump has moved back into the WH. Walmart is closing its woke DEI dept in similar fashion to Tractor Supply, John Deere, Caterpillar, and other big retailers who are doing so since the Nov 5th election. Over 80% of US federal govt workers are still working from home post-Covid. This won’t cut it with Elon. Things appear to be getting better. As for me, I’ll believe that good times are officially back when HR is renamed Personnel Dept.

I’m 77 and a Vietnam Veteran. My concern is about justice for abuses of power by the government–NOT revenge, but actual consequences for those in power who intentionally used the government or abused the power of government for their own gain! If there are no consequences, there is no justice and there will be continued abuses in the future. Hold them to account for all our sakes!
Biden has always been a Liar, cheat, phony human. His pardon of Hunter for numerous cries tells you all. We are on the Verge of Civil War, Daniel Penny did what a Good Human would do when there is trouble, protected others in a crisis. Now he is facing jail time vs being given a medal. His life has been turned up side down in legal fees. A Bigot named A. Brag is pushing this miscarriage of Justice and should be removed from his position. This man may be the cause of a Civil War.
