I’ve Always Wondered For As Long As I Can Remember . . . What Force On Earth Can Kill Freedom?
AMERICA’S CONSTITUTION IS THE LAST GUARDIAN AT THE GATE & FALTERING:
In A Very Niggling Way, Even as a Very Young Man, I Always Came Back to our So-Called Canadian Democracy, as the Only Culprit Possible of Destroying the Freedoms we Cherish in Canada, which Brought Me to My Love & Admiration for the Values of the American Constitution.
I’VE WANTED TO WRITE THIS EDITORIAL FOR YEARS . . . THE TIME HAS COME:
I’ve Always Wondered . . . Because of our Canadian Democracy, What Would Stop A Government In Power From Passing Laws That Would Take Away Our Freedoms? The Answer – Simply Stated . . . Would Be A United States Of America Style Constitution & Bill Of Rights.
HOW STABLE IS THE US CONSTITUTION?
The Problem Goes All The Way Back To 1982, when the Father of Justin Trudeau, then Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau Passed the Law that Affirmed his Canadian Charter Of Rights & Freedoms, to Become our Canadian Constitution & Bill of Rights, which Ceded the Freedoms of the Canadian People to the Hands of Piss-Pot Bureaucrats (Mayors, Premiers & Unelected Judges) – Leaving the Rights & Freedoms of the Canadian People Vulnerable to their Interpretation (Whims).
CANADIAN HUMAN RIGHTS TRIBUNALS – CANADA’S KANGAROO COURTS:
Years Ago . . . A Prominent Member of One of Canada’s Many Human Right’s Tribunals, which are Comprised of Unelected (Appointed) Officials, who are Not Necessarily a Part of the Canadian Judicial System, Bestowed Upon Themselves the Power to Adjudicate (Also A Gift From Pierre Elliott Trudeau) Civil Rights & Liberties – Which When Passed, Carry the Weight of Law to Fine & Punish People with Whom they Disagree.
“THIS ISN’T AMERICA – WE DON’T HAVE A FIRST AMENDMENT” . . .
I Won’t Go Into A Great Depth Of These Tribunals . . . Other Than To Write, the Targets of these Tribunals Have the Right to be Heard, but NOT the Right to be Defended by Counsel, NOT the Right to Face His or Her Accuser & NEITHER the Right to Cross Examine.
IN CANADA . . . THIS PASSES FOR DEMOCRACY:
Even Without Aforementioned Judicial Rights – The Verdicts Of these Tribunals Are Law.
These Tribunals were First Established by Pierre Elliott Trudeau to Act as Arbiters in Instances of Discrimination, Basically in Cases of Apartment Seekers being Locked out of Rentals because of their Color, Ethnicity, Gender, Religion – Etc . . . Also to Stand in Protection for Minorities who Were Refused Services, Jobs – Etc . . . for the Same Racist Criteria . . . Which Was All Commendable – BUT . . .
Over The Years . . . These Appointed Tribunals (Every Province Has One) Took Upon Themselves the Authority to Judge all Manner of Discrimination – Real or Contrived, Much of Which Went far Beyond their Mandate, Without Federal Opposition to Reign them-in (With The Brief Exception Of Conservative Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper), Leaving their Assumed Power with Impunity . . . To Punish Whomever They Deemed – Guilty Of Doing Whatever.
There Is Judicial Recourse To Tribunal Judgments Which Includes Actual Court Defenses, where the Victim of the Tribunal has the Right to Face His or Her Accuser, has the Right to be Represented by an Attorney, and has the Right of Cross Examination . . . If The Courts Deem The Challenge To Be Worthy.
And Even If The Lower Courts Accept The Challenge . . . How Many People Have the Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars to Fight for their Rights all the Way up to the Supreme Court . . . Only If The Supreme Court Of Canada Agrees To Accept The Case?
But As Bad As This Is . . . In Canada’s Democratic Society – Bureaucrats Have the Power to Interpret, Make & Enforce Laws on Behalf of the Government in Power, which Become the Law of the Land, Upon Which Future Laws are Created by Using the Past Created Laws as Jurisprudence . . . Until these Laws are Challenged & Defeated in Court Over a Span of Years of Litigation, at the Cost of Many Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars . . . Where’s The Justice (Democracy) In That?
As A Current Example . . . By Will of the Federal Government, Without the Passage of Hearings, Debate or a Vote in Parliament, Canada has Assumed the Right to Seize Legally Owned Firearms from the Citizens of Canada from Coast to Coast.
Canada Has Also Decided By Law – Also Without Parliamentary Approval . . . to Give Hundreds of Millions of Dollars to Canada’s Media, which the Current Liberal Government Feels are Worthy of the Government’s Largesse, which in Many Ways is Similar to What the Democrats & Mitch McConnell Want to Do in the United States of America.
The Absolute Guardians Of Freedom In The United States Of America . . . Are the Steadfastness of the US Constitutional Rights of Free Speech (Freedom Of Expression) And the Right to Own Firearms for Amongst Other Things . . . To Protect The Right Of Free Speech.
AS I WROTE NEAR THE BEGINNING OF THIS EDITORIAL . . .
“This Isn’t America – We Don’t Have A First Amendment” . . . Was a “Proud” Statement Broadcast on Radio by a Senior Member of the Human Rights Commission, as he Castigated Canadians for Assuming that in Canada, we Enjoy the Same Constitutional Protections as Do the Americans.
The Fact That He Was Proud To Make This Statement . . . Was In Itself Horrifying.
CANADA IS LOSING OUR FREEDOMS BECAUSE OF DEMOCRACY:
Let Me Put This As Succinctly As I Can . . . America Is Becoming Canada.

Rigged election results aside, I envy Americans because they have two ‘relief valves’ that allow for and provide pathways to deal with public dissatisfaction in those that they have elected. Instead of having to wait for 4 years to finally get the chance to vote inept or scandalous politicians out of office as we Canadians must do, Americans can implement Recall mechanisms as well as Impeachment proceedings. These pathways don’t always work…but at least they are available!
a well written and sound article – It reflects on the situation most Western democracies find themselves in, they are being eaten away from within and because they are democracies, the population agrees to accept the other head of the same serpent to lead them onwards
HG, you nailed it better than anyone! America became the greatest nation on Earth because its Founders had the foresight to enshrine in its founding documents protections FOR the people FROM their government. Canada has had it assbackwards from the start, when they were too cowardly to join their American neighbors in their righteous War of Independence against the British colonialists.
Howard, your last statement is a very chilling observation. The sheeples in the US are becoming increasingly ignorant of history and refuse to challenge the status quo. Too many of us are unaware or don’t care that our rights are being taken from us. Those on the left seem happy about it, those of us on the right are not fighting hard enough to preserve them. With the “success” Biden is having, I fear conservatives will never win another national election…
Some Maritime history, Frank McKenna, Premier of New Brunswick cancelled voluntary School Boards in the mid 80’s. Why? To take the parent out of the education system. Why? To set up the miserable teachings of today and promote the de-education of our compliant youth and have them accept and agree to the demise of our once proud Province. History 1.
The first Amendment is wonderful in and of itself. However…it must be noted that Our Constitution is a ‘Contract’ between the People and the government. If a people choose to sit on their hands then ANY government will morph into a Socialistic/Communistic government and since they don’t work, on to Totalitarianism. Thus the First is worthless without the Second!
The nature of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights was birthed out of the womb of REVOLUTION. The former colonists saw what a repressive regime could be like and they decided that rights had to be preserved to the people and not as gifts from the government. Canada never experienced the events that gave birth to America; hence, rights were taken for granted. The feeling was that the government would treat Canadians fairly and protect their individual freedoms. That worked out.
The Land of the Free because of the Brave is changing fast. Our youth has been so brain washed by our so called teachers or Brown Shirts that only a few answer the call to Military Service. And now that the idiot Biden and his Vaccination Mandate is on the loose destroying those in our Military who refuse the unproven Poison our Military is losing a strong majority of its good Leadership. We are on the cusp of a Civil War as the Libs seek ways to take the 2nd Amend. away, Why did China do that.
I hope your last statement is not truth. Or if so, that We The People somehow will be able to turn that around. Otherwise, I believe we are in “the last days”, which may be the situation anyway with everything else that’s going on toward a one-world government. The US is the biggest stumbling block to that now. If we fall, there will be several countries warring to take our place (China, Russia). Israel will be left standing to defend itself with no one to help; but God will intervene.
The Trudeau family ( Dad and son ) , have both devastated this country. And our so called “ democracy “ has allowed them to do it. Pollievre talks about making Canada the most free country in the world. How is he going to do that without changing our Charter/ constitution ? Is he even suggesting it ? Pray for a new prime minister who will one day , actually sacrifice popularity for a inalienable citizen bill of rights. Otherwise we’re done as a country.
