I Borrowed Money from the Banks to Finance my Business Interests, which because of Reasons that Were my Fault & Reasons Beyond my Control, which Gave me No Options . . . I Found Myself In Horribly Painful Circumstances.
Of The Causes Why I FAILED . . . Were Because Business was Not Good for Various Reasons . . . I was Inexperienced & I Made Mistakes of my Own Fault.
ALSO – I NEEDED to Pay my Employees 100% of their Salaries, 100% of their Bonuses, 100% of their Commissions, 100% of their Benefits & 100% of their Costs (Expense Accounts) Incurred while Working for Me . . . OF WHICH I PAID 100%.
I Could Have Fired Or Laid-Off The Employees I Couldn’t Afford, but Anne & I Couldn’t See Ourselves Taking Away the Salaries of the People who Needed our Money to Pay their Bills, Keep a Roof Over their Heads & Put Food on the their Tables . . . While I Hoped, Prayed & Worked for a Business Turnaround.
In Retrospect – Smart Businesspeople Would Have Taken Care Of Themselves & Not Their Employees . . . But That Wasn’t Us.
FOR WHATEVER EVER REASON I WENT BANKRUPT . . . THAT WAS 100% ON ME:
No One Had To Pay For Me Because I Was Young, Naïve & Inexperienced – So Why Should Anyone Have to Pay for People who Took Student Loans, Which They Either Couldn’t Afford To Pay Back . . . Or Simply Don’t Want To?

I Went To University At Night, Because I Couldn’t Afford to Go During the Day, and there was No Way on God’s Green Earth that I Expected my Parents to Pay for Any Part of my Post High School Education. It was Hard Enough for my Parents to Just to Get-By, So Why Would I Pile-On?
Even If They Offered To Pay . . . I Wouldn’t Have Accepted – So I Worked During The Day & Went To University At Night.
Most . . . if Not all my of High School Friends Took Student Loans, with Many Squandering their Loans on Backpack Trips through Europe, which was the Thing to Do in those Days.
Those who Went on the European Travel Trips Also Bought Cars, Toys & other Things they Couldn’t Afford . . . With Many who Spent Much of their University Days in the Student Lounge Playing Cards and/or Smoking Dope . . . Too Often Doing Both.
Of my High School Friends who Graduated with Bachelor-Degrees, I Can Only Think of a Few who Went-On to Graduate with Work Related Degrees (An Engineer, A Veterinarian & A Lawyer). The Others Needed University Degrees Like Someone Needs A Hole In Their Head.
I Didn’t Drink. Do Drugs. Or Run To Rock Concerts. And I Didn’t Travel The World On Bogus Borrowed University Funds.
I Didn’t Finish University, Because After a Couple of Years, I Realized there was Nothing I was Going to Learn in University that Would Benefit-Me in the Job-Market. And I Needed To Make A Living.
Everything I Learned . . . As You Read On This Blog – I Learned On My Own Because I Wanted-To & No One Paid My Freight.

Why Should Anyone Pay For The University Education Of Someone Else, No Matter What he or she is Studying? Especially Today . . . when Most Universities are Nothing More – Than Mega-Million (Billion) Dollar Rip-Off Frauds.

Quite a Blog and TRUE. As a tax payer, I pay, THEY spend….they think the money will never run out. But it is already GONE. I am hoping that Canadians and Americans ARE WAKING UP!! I do not agree with paying for THE STUDENT LOANS whether it is American or Canadian student loans. If we the Taxpayer pays for the loans, do we get a Portion of The Students Pay Cheque when they eventually get a job….NOT in your live!!

I am just waiting for the lawsuits against Biden’s student loan decision. Only Congress has the authority to create debt; which is what forgiving loans will do. Kentucky has a program called FAME which promotes industrial apprenticeships. After 5 years A GRADUATE(?) of this program is earning $96,000—more than a Ph.D.
The whole of the matter is : The Democ’rat party for the greater part is America’s domestic enemy. Waging the war of internal destruction against our economy. While directing trillions of dollars into a welfare rat whole to purchase their votes. Which keep them empowered to continue the process of divide, enslave and conquer. Like you, Howard, I worked my way through college, without one dime from my parents. I worked every summer to save up money for tuition, books and miscellaneous expenses. So, for me to see college students these days graduating with thousands of dollars in student loan debt, many with a worthless degree…let’s just say that I find the “forgiving of student loan debt” repugnant.
Unlike most of my friends, I started college, community, quit and joined the Army. I received my “education” working jobs most folks would not do. I also owned a few business, I never allowed myself to go upside down in debt, payed as I went along even I could have borrowed money and made life easier. I helped my kids with a starting amount when they graduated from high school, enough for a two year degree. They worked and paid for the remainder, loan forgiveness is vote buying which is illega

About Teachers and student loans. I am one of the first baby boomers. By the time I turned 17 teachers were in such demand that I was able to secure loans that would be paid off if I stayed in the field for 10 years. It was good for USA and good for me. I would agree is gov would reduce interest down to 2-3%. Or make deals with folks we desperately need like they did me or the military! And only for undergrad degrees.
