As The Sun Sets This Sunday Evening . . . It Begins The Day Of Atonement . . . Yom Kippur, when Jews Worldwide Begin a 24-Hour Fast, Many of Whom Fast In Practice, While Many Others Fast Rhetorically, but Always Remembering the Purpose of the Day . . . Judaism’s Holiest Day Of The Year.

TO ME . . . YOM KIPPUR IS SIMPLE:

Yom Kippur Is The Day Of Personal Moral Inventory.

There Are Many Scholarly Opinions Interpreting The Purpose Of Yom Kippur, the Fasting, Abstinence of all Normal Pleasures, the Day Spent Praying at the Synagogue . . . Especially the Prayers Recognizing our Year Long Transgressions, and Mostly – Ignoring The Word & Directions Of God.

To Some Jews . . . We Pray To God For Forgiveness – To Me, and to My Best Understanding from all that I Have Read in the Hebrew Scriptures . . . Yom Kippur is the Time to Confess Our Sins to Ourselves, and to Admit Our Shortcomings to Ourselves, Not For Forgiveness From God . . . But Rather, for our Own Personal Redemption, for Us to Do Better from the Evening of Yom Kippur (The Day Of Atonement) . . . On Forward.

IT HAS NEVER BEEN EASY TO BE A JEW . . .

In this Day & Age, Especially since the End of WWII, the Last Three Years – From October 7, 2023 . . . Being Jewish Almost Everywhere in the World, Except in Israel, Has Become A Challenge Unlike Anything I Can Remember.

WE ARE TODAY . . . BECAUSE WE CHOOSE TO-BE:

If I Am To Thank God For Anything Beyond My Personal Life . . . It Is that God Has Given the Jewish People an Incredibly Strong Arm in Israel, With Israeli Leaders Who Will Not Take A Knee.

I Have To Give Thanks For President Donald J Trump, who Stands like a Beacon Against Jew Hatred and the Right for Israel to Continue Existing as a Nation.

I Give Thanks To The American People . . . who Have Not Abandoned Israel, the Jewish People & Judeo/Christian Values in the Midst of a Swell of Far Left & Far Right Anti-Semitism.

I Especially Give Thanks To All Our Christian Friends Who Stand With Us.

I Recognize The Terrible Shortcomings Of Countries Like My Own (Canada), which Have Embraced the New Anti-Semitic Blood Libels, Including Non-Existent Jewish Genocide Against the Palestinians and the Manufactured Wanton Murder & Destruction by Israeli Troops of Enemy Forces in Lebanon (Hezbollah), Gaza (Hamas), and Judea & Samaria (West Bank).

I Stand With Truth & Justice . . . Against those who Paint a Terrorist Label on all of Israel for the Acts of an Infinitesimal Number of Jews who the Anti-Semitic World Prefers to Describe as Settlers.

IF WE ARE TO PRAY – TO BE BETTER HUMAN BEINGS IN THE FUTURE . . .

I Pray To Continue Leading A Moral Life . . . Giving Thanks For All That I Have.

I Pray For The Mental Strength . . . to Never Take-For-Granted Nor Forget all the People who Have Extended a Hand to Me & Mine.  And I Pray for the Resolve to Do Good Unto Others.

I Pray For Israel, and I Pray for a Victorious Republican Party in November. And if there will be a Coming Snap Election in Canada . . . I Pray For A Conservative Parliament.

For Canada . . . I Pray for Redemption and a Return to the Conservative Values that Made our World War II Canadians the Greatest Generation Ever.

OUR OBLIGATIONS ARE NOT JUST ONE DAY PER YEAR:

Yom Kippur Is Just One Day Out Of The Year . . . But The Year Lasts For 365-Days.
