Them that cannot teach – administrate. And that’s why our education system is in shambles and costs have spiraled out of control.
So true. We had a poli sci teacher in high school back in the 70s who we kids all knew as a “commie.” One day i asked him why he wastes his time teaching stoner high schoolers rather than teach university. He told me without hesitation it was because he had more influence over younger kids. That the younger they were, the easier it was to mold them into how he thinks.
I’ve always been concerned about the Unions that ran the teachers, but it didn’t seem to bother anyone else. Everyone praised the teachers, no matter what. A # of years ago, my friend, a teacher, who loved her job and who was ADORED by all her students, just had to quit because she didn’t believe in what they demanded she teach. So the good ones quit and what were we left with???

BUT I’d like to add another thing we desperately need to bring back – Biblical morals. We need to bring prayer back in schools, and our foundational Judeo-Christian principles and morals. Without them, even a return to honest legitimate education in academia will be hollow and will not last.
What’s been sown has had a great number of years to put down roots, so one election cycle isn’t going to clear the field, but people DO seem to be waking up. Thanks for your perseverance.
My wife and I went to every PT conference for our kids. My Son passed from 3rd to 4th with us being told he was doing great, In 4th his teacher said he was more than a year behind in reading. We fought the 3rd grade teacher, she was moved to 1st grade and did much better. I had a co worker at P&G who ended up getting fired was a terrible employee, 3 years later, my son had her as a High School English Teacher, dope smoking and liberal, Morally bankrupt, because of Union and Board, she stayed.

Today’s teachers went on to get a degree in teaching kids in school directly from high school. So, what have they learned about life? They know nothing about hard times and where the next paycheck would come from if they lost their job. When and what they teach is ordered from higher up. The higher ups will go along with anything the Government tells them. Good teachers come from off of the farm and other places like the farm where they got an education in life while growing up.
Please read Thomas Sowell’s book: “Inside American Education.” He wrote it about 30 years ago. Very “educational” —– it you’ll pardon the pun.
Howard, again you are right in my mind, unfortunately, most of the teachers believe they are reliving their school days and have failed to “grow up” mentally. I have always said, that any teacher, should have to take a test on the Constitution before being allowed in a classroom. Those that could not pass that test, should be rejected. Unions are the birthplace of communism, and they in some professions should be modified to not only serve their members but to conform to the needs of all.

I really do not know what to say.. It is a mess just like our Government . One of my granddaughters is s teacher. She left the school because they were not teaching children reading, writing & Asthmatic like she was taught in school. nor teach the children what it is like to have a working job after schools. Being married having chidden none of this is taught them in any schools. My granddaughter left teaching, and is teaching day care and they do teach them all of this. Kids love it. Happy d
I shared a Train ride with an Ontario Politician in 1959. We talked all night about Education. He was attempting to start a system where one would spend the first 25 years of life being educated, the next 25 years working and if fortunate enough to have another 25 years left, it should be spent as a Teacher. That was a most interesting and informative Train Ride. Too bad the plan was never implemented.
