Mousey Justin Trudeau‘s ‘tough’ stance against Donald Trump reminds me of the 1960s film “The Mouse That Roared.” Check it out. Trade wise Canada wants to eat the United States‘ cake and save its cake for itself. That simply won’t happen.

I am a free trader and and don’t consider myself a rhino. But let’s take a look at farmers. Two of the biggest costs for farmers are petroleum and products made from petroleum and capital. Both of these cost are not incurred in an open marketplace . The government is mainly responsible for forcing artificially high costs on the farmers. Farmers are just fighting back through supply management. Instead of just picking on farmers, how about going after the government to get out of the market place

Howard, great article. Your absolutely correct because of high tariffs, Canadians are paying a high price for a lot of things that they consume. All for what? The protection of their industries. By lowering tariffs, it will open up competition and allow Canadian consumers to pay less. Trudeau is a brainless idiot who doesn’t know what the hell he is doing.

I get my 3 year old cheddar cheese from Montana at $5 per 2 lbs. You pay about 4 times or 400% more in quebec. Then at about 35% of the gas price that goes to quebec this province gains a mere 8 billion dollars extra on a cost that only Trump has been complaining about. Governments be damned.

I agree with you Howard on Supply Management just like the Wheat Board they had for the 4 Provinces West Ontario (would you believe there are farmers that want to return to the Wheat Board). I call them lazy farmers as they don’t want to do the leg work to find the best price for selling their product. Canada is more Socialist than Capitalist from what you have written. I have compared wages for various jobs abd Canada wages suck. I don’t know how people can afford to live in Canada. Just look at all the TV remodeling shows that are filmed in Canada. For the price of the old homes you could buy a brand new much larger & better new home in U.S than fixing up these old Canadian homes. I compared my job as a U.S. federal agent to several positions in Canada and my salary was almost double
