So Who Loves Texas?

THERE ARE A GREAT MANY PEOPLE WHO CARE FOR TEXAS, TEXANS & THEIR PETS:

YESTERDAY . . . AUGUST 31, 2017 – I wrote an Editorial ASKING Readers of this BLOG to help with the Costs of Saving as many Animals as could be saved in the Areas being Ravaged by Hurricane Harvey.

I MADE THIS REQUEST “NOW” FOR SEVERAL REASONS:

1 – I BELIEVE in a time of REAL Need, that everyone who can, in one way or another, MUST RISE to the Occasion and Do Whatever Can Be DONE. It’s not always about the Money, but when you’re about 2,000-Miles Away from the Misery, you’re very limited as to what else you can do.

2 – Between all the Various Levels of Government and Insurance Programs, and as UGLY as this Disaster is . . . People who are victims of this Nightmare will be cared for as Best as the Situation allows.

3 – I have an UNLIMITED LOVE FOR ANIMALS . . . Great & Small, all of “whom” provide Humanity with LOVE . . . That Carries Absolutely No Strings Attached.

As I’m writing this, I’m looking at STRYKER, our Wonderful German Shepherd, who today turns 8-Years Old, lying at my feet, and at April-The-Cat, sleeping on her Favorite Pillow on the Recliner, thinking about what I and Anne WOULDN’T DO OR SACRIFICE FOR THEM.

4 – I know that Many . . . if Not Most People – Do Love Animals, but at times like this, to Most People, Animal Welfare ISN’T necessarily Top-Of-Mind. But to me, knowing the Relationship between Animals and their Humans, is MORE IMPORTANT than the Relationship between Humans and their “Things” . . . which is Not to be Diminished, Dismissed, Nor Ignored.

5 – PEOPLE ARE FICKLE . . . even Good People, who in many ways have Short Attention Spans, who Move on from one Issue to the Next, Forgetting the Last, so I didn’t want that to happen, “knowing” that if “WE” could raise some FUNDS here and now, to Help as best “WE” could, to provide Help for the Animals through HONEST People – There Would Be No Better Time Than Now!

SO HERE’S THE DEAL:

I WAS REALLY HOPING . . . that we could Raise as much as $2000, which is MORE than I usually Raise for Galganov.com . . . FULLY Expecting to Pay for all the Costs to Modify the Website to Accommodate a New Element for SAVE THE FURRY TEXANS . . . That Come Hell Or High Water, One Way Or Another, I would Donate $2000 USD to Help the Animals.

SO THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED:

I contacted my IT Manager, very late in the day, who does all the High Tech Work for Galganov.com, asking him to work through the Night to Build the “Back-Door” into Galganov.com, with which to Accommodate this Project, ASKING HIM TO CONSIDER CHARGING ME LESS THAN NORMAL . . . BECAUSE OF THE ISSUE.

I Fully Expected To Pay As Much As $500 For His Overtime Effort.

So . . . Imagine my surprise – when MARIO BEAUCHAMP, My French Canadian IT Manager from Quebec, who I’ve known for a very long time, who Developed Galganov.com, told me that his Work & Expertise WERE HIS DONATION.

AND WITHIN MINUTES . . . of the Editorial ASKING for Money, the Money Started Rolling in through PayPal, much of it from People who usually Contribute. And as of RIGHT NOW, as I’m writing this Editorial, Galganov.com has Received in both Currencies, Canadian & American . . . In US Dollars, slightly MORE than $2,500, not including any money we will receive at the Post Office.

I ASSUME . . . that after all the Dust Settles – the Readers of Galganov.com, with the help of Mario Beauchamp, by the end of this Long Labor Day Weekend, will have MUSTERED-UP Closer to $3,000 American.

I have contacted Several of my Texas Pet Friendly Friends, asking their Advice on where it would be Best to Send The Money . . . and incredibly, the HUGE Consensus from people I know and Trust, is for me to send the Money to AUSTIN PETS ALIVE, which is a No Kill Shelter, which is being SLAMMED with Rescue Animals from Houston & Environ.

AND AFTER CHECKING-OUT AUSTIN PETS ALIVE . . . to make certain they are the REAL DEAL, I am MORE than Satisfied that ALL OF “OUR” MONEY WILL BE GOING TO THE RIGHT PLACE.

THERE ARE A GREAT MANY PEOPLE WHO CARE FOR TEXAS, TEXANS & THEIR PETS:

A lot of the Money heading to Texas from Galganov.com is coming from Canada, as well as from all over the United States . . . in Donation Amounts of $5 to $10 to 2-Donations of $250 from the Same People, with much of the Money being Donated in amounts of $25, as well as a few in the amount of $100.

WE ARE THRILLED FOR EVERY DONATION REGARDLESS OF SIZE:

AND AS OF THE WRITING OF THIS EDITORIAL . . . 69-People, not including what will come in the Mail, have PONIED-UP to save The FURRY TEXANS.

One Canadian sent his $100-Support for the FURRY TEXANS in the manner of an E-Check. And for the Americans who might not know, the money coming from Canadians, has come from Coast to Coast.

SO HOW MUCH OF THE MONEY THAT WE’VE RAISED THUS FAR WILL GO TO THE CAUSE?

Unlike Most Charities . . . ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of All the Money thus far RAISED, and the Money that will come in After-The-Fact, WILL GO DIRECTLY TO AUSTIN PETS ALIVE, which is something we can all be very proud of.

AND NOT TO MISS OUT ON A LITTLE POLITICS:

I’ve Seen and Read on some of the Media . . . how this Hurricane Tragedy will bring Americans closer Together, and reduce the Socio/Political Divide – THAT’S JUST BS . . . Because as I see it, this Hurricane Nightmare, will ONLY Empower the LEFT to be even that Much More Anti-American.

This Is Only The Respite Between The Storms . . . Next Editorial Is Back To Usual.

Best Regards . . . Howard Galganov

  1. Thanks Howard! Happy Valentine’s Day to you & Anne! Kate Smith, the brunt of crude Hollywood jokes, gave us a wonderful tribute to our nation & God-given freedoms. My hat is off to you for standing/respecting the flag & for being a good role model for fellow Americans! Speaks volumes about character! My salute to you! Scripture speaks of a nation that corrupts the earth with her fornication, likely the USA by leftist/youthful values, & will be judged accordingly. 50 shades support this thesis.

  2. Howard I would like to donate $50.00 Canadian to the animal cause through email what is the email address to use. Thx

  3. This Texan thanks you for your efforts in helping my fellow Texans and their animals, all of whom are suffering.

  4. Howard, & your dear Anne, I did donate yesterday (last night), so thanks for the “update” on where the $ is going! And bless your IT person for making his services as a donation as well!! the website is/was very easy to use. May God continue to bless our furry friends, down in Texas/Louisiana areas, so devastated by Hurricane Harvey, and thank you Howard & Anne, for stepping up to the plate in this time of need. I’m also posting this editorial on my FB page, as I do with each of your blogs.

  5. First, a BIG “thank you” to MARIO BEAUCHAMP, Howard’s IT Manager, for his CONTRIBUTION! Next, Howard, what a great idea this was for people to easily contribute to the FURRY TEXANS! We trust that the funds will be used as efficiently possible by AUSTIN PETS ALIVE. Isn’t it ENCOURAGING to see that there are STILL some very GOOD PEOPLE in this “sad” world of ours! Let’s HOPE that this TRAGEDY will “WAKE UP” certain people [especially GOVERNMENT/POLITICIANS] re: our Country’s issues. AMEN!

  6. Jews believe that we are “here for sake of others” (this could be animals, not just humans). For many people, their pets are their most prized possessions (perhaps “kids they never had” or “service animals”). Thanks so much for getting involved helping those in need here in Texas, Howard. This is what happens when people think about others, not just themselves! (People are more apt to donate, knowing where the funds are going.) God “works through people” if they turn back (“tune into”) God!

  7. Howard~~I am very upset that I cannot donate to Furry Texans via Pay Pal. I have called both my bank and my credit card company and everything is OK at their end. I can send a donation to Galganov.com~~but not to Furry Friends. HELP!!

  8. Love it, Howard, and you are correct…..The Left is so saturated in EVIL it is impossible for them to be anything but VERY SICK. If those who are not yet aware of that one fact will absorb it now it will be terribly meaningful in the future.

  9. Glad to help the cause for stranded or hurt animals in the Texas area hit by Harvey. Thank you for standing in the gap for the furry critters in Harvey’s wake, and thank Mr. Beauchamp for donating his time as well. Without you two, it would not have happened. I see you have another follower having issues with Paypal, oddly the opposite of my problem.

  10. Seeing the videos of people clutching their animals all soaked the bone, is heart wrenching. Thank you for making a way to help with confidence that our dollars will go to the animals and their caregivers til owners can be found. Video of bewildered horses are also so sad. My niece from the Florida panhandle is headed to Texas with a truck and trailer loaded with horse feed and supplies. Our family is full of horses and we all pray for these noble animals to survive. Thank you and Mr. B.

  11. Thank you, Howard and Anne, for taking care of the precious animals!! My pets were always my most prized possession. They have now passed on, but I totally understand the emotional connection with animals. Thanks for all you are doing.

  12. Howard, we just donated to the Furry Friends fund, glad to be able to help. Look forward to your Editorials each day.

  13. Hi, Howard and Mr. Beauchamp.

I THANK YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH for helping animals. In my mind, they are so much better than many humans.

They have always brought comfort, solace and companionship into my life and I love them so.

My wife of 40 years recently died and my Doberman whined and whined for her. Thankfully, ‘Daisy’ quit grieving after awhile and started tending to me.

I love animals so much, it is almost pathological. No animal has ever hurt me; numerous people have.

  14. Howard, Just sent a small donation. I’m hoping to aid Habitat for Humanity if they go to Texas to rebuild. But, knowing that even a small amount can buy bones or water or anything to help our furry friends is important. My doggie Honeybun is the love of my life. There is no amount of money that could replace her. I, too, love all animals. Thank you for doing this for all of us.

  15. Great work Howard,
A few notes for your Texas readers affected by this storm, as my wife and I endured a cat 4 Hurricane in Florida in 2004 which was mainly a wind event.
    1. If you have insurance do not trust the adjusters the insurance company sends out, insurance companies are all about collecting payments not in helping the insured. A responsible public adjuster is a big help, however, check l out their credentials before hiring.
    2. Expect re building costs to double.

  16. I am most fortunate that my immediate family was not in the path of Harvey. Yet, some of my family were. I know that they are all safe and sound. One distant cousin in my husband’s family – His town was flooded and I am sure his house was in the path. I wish them well and that everything will go along smoothly for them. 😇😇😇😇😇
