The Big Energy Fix

WE IN NORTH AMERICA SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO IMPORT A DROP OF OIL

The price of gas at the pumps is just part of the price Obama will pay at the polls this coming November.

I GUESS THAT’S A GOOD THING IN A PERVERSE WAY.

The government grants drilling licenses that are pretty much open-ended, allowing the drillers to sell their oil to whomever they want.

BUT IT ISN’T THEIR OIL . . . They didn’t make it. They are simply extracting energy from the country owned by the people.

On a North American basis, the oil that comes out of the ground from either the seabed or terra firma belongs to the people. And given the harsh reality of energy supply and demand, and the OPEC FIX on pricing, all new licenses to drill and extract oil should have a covenant forbidding the export of any domestic oil to any country until we meet our own needs.

WE IN NORTH AMERICA SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO IMPORT A DROP OF OIL:

While it is true that existing agreements should be honored, a condition for winning NEW licenses to drill and extract energy in North America should contain a clause forcing companies with existing licenses to agree to new terms, guaranteeing that all production be sold exclusively for domestic use.

In other words, the oil they are currently taking out of the ground, or from the surface (Oil Sands) would not be eligible for sale abroad if they want new drilling and extraction licenses.

THIS WORLD POOL OF OIL IS NOTHING MORE AND NOTHING LESS THAN A CON.

Sure . . . the energy industry can say that we have no control over prices because all of the world’s oil goes into an international pool that regulates supply and cost.

And that’s 100% true and accurate; because that’s the way the energy OLIGOPOLY wants it to be. But, it doesn’t have to be that way at all.

THIS IS NEITHER FREE NOR FAIR MARKETING . . . NOR MORAL CAPITALISM.

The oil industry is in lock step with government in a conspiracy to bleed the people dry.

The oil industry wants as much money as it can possibly squeeze from the people because of its unbridled greed. No one should expect the oil industry to be a good citizen. But, on the same hand, we should expect our governments to keep them from doing incalculable harm to us.

The government wants as much tax revenue as possible from high-energy prices to pay for their incompetence and unsustainable entitlements.

AND – Whether we like it or not. Or whether we want to believe it or not. Politicians are bought and sold on the energy market, because that’s the way it is.

And then there are the bottom feeder speculators who are driving the price of crude as high as they can, so they too can line their pockets without so much as getting a hand dirty.

As much as I am a true believer in the FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM, I am also not stupid. Nor am I a sucker. And this has nothing whatsoever to do with Free Enterprise.

What is happening to the cost of energy can be summed up in just one word: COLLUSION. And that’s illegal.

BUT THERE’S A REAL EASY FIX FOR IT ALL.

1 – Make it ILLEGAL to export domestic energy, unless it is either going to Canada from the USA, or from Canada to the USA.

2 – Make it illegal to base oil prices according to OPEC quotas.

3 – Make it illegal to speculate on already extracted energy.

By doing these three things, all the energy extracted from our national territories, regardless of which multi-national corporation is doing the extracting, will guarantee an abundance of North American supply for our own use.

Doing these three things will crash the prices of energy to where they should be, making life substantially easier for the poor and middle class while helping businesses to grow.

Much lower domestic prices will also create a tremendous domestic revenue stream, allowing us to easily balance our national budgets, while paying down our suffocating national debts.

And we all know how serious it is NOT to have our own energy independence. And how vulnerable we are to be so indebted to the world.

We can fix the problem . . . of that I am certain. But the real question is this:

CAN WE FIX THE POLITICIANS WHO CREATE AND PERPETUATE THE PROBLEM?

As I alluded in the opening sentence . . . if there is any silver lining in this very dark and bleak cloud, the high cost of energy going into November will have one inestimable benefit, which will be just one of MANY contributors to the exit of Obama.

I guess like the saying goes – NO PAIN NO GAIN.

  1. That is the beautiy of living in a free country. You may not agree with everything “as said by some people,” but this is what brings the “cream too the top.” We are fast losing our freedoms. Stand firm and “enjoy the ride.”
