Andre Pratte, editor of Montreal’s La Presse Newspaper just can’t stop writing about the NEED for French Quebec’s resurgence in Canada and federal politics.
AND FOR QUEBECERS TO ONCE AGAIN TAKE A LEADERSHIP ROLE IN THE GOVERNANCE OF CANADA.
He quotes Pierre Elliot Trudeau in his National Post article (June 22, 2009) when Trudeau spoke of “FRENCH POWER”.
But it’s not just the likes of Andre Pratte. You can add federal Liberal Party leader Michael Ignatieff to the same sentiments, that Canada NEEDS Quebec leadership once again.
OH YEAH – As if Quebecers have done such a great job governing their own sick province.
On June 20, 2009, Hubert Bauch, one of the Montreal Gazette’s star feature writers had a column describing the great progress that has been made between the French, English and Ethnic communities in Quebec, since the days of Bill 101.
I will quote a few paragraphs from his very long article. But before I do, I will also let you know that Hubert Bauch interviewed me quite a few times over the years. And every time he interviewed me, I always felt that there was some kind of underlying current that just never felt right.
Several of his co-writers at the Gazette had told me not to trust him. He seems to be neutral, but, what seems to be, and what really is, is not necessarily one in the same.
SO HERE’S A FEW PARAGRAPHS OF WHAT BAUCH WROTE:
“There is still a cadre of self-anointed language hawks in a perpetual state of anglophobic froth and a rearguard of the Howard-Galganov “angryphone” faction, but both operate on the political fringe and their appeal is largely to a limited audience of hard-line converts.”
“Meanwhile, francophones have become more secure in their DOMINANT position in the province and more accommodating of les autres, while anglos, substantially more reduced in numbers and influence, have adapted to their SECONDARY STATION and taken up in large part the so-called burden of bilingualism that once chafed so sorely on francophones.”
In Bauch’s disturbed mind, he finds progress in what he writes:
“FRANCOPHONES HAVE BECOME MORE SECURE IN THEIR DOMINANT POSITION IN THE PROVINCE . . . WHILE ANGLOPHONES HAVE ADAPTED TO THEIR SECONDARY STATION.”
Imagine what Franco-Ontarians would be howling if I would have had the audacity to suggest that they should just adapt to their SECONDARY STATION under the DOMINANCE of the Anglo majority?
Never mind Franco-Ontarians – You can hear in your own mind what Liberal Anglos would be screaming. I would be their POSTER-BOY for intolerance, Franco-phobia, and linguistic racism.
But, not only did I not say this. And nor did I EVER say this, HUBERT BAUCH DID – But in reverse.
WORSE – Just by publishing this over-the-top feature article that CELEBRATES the SECOND-CLASS STATUS of Canada’s English speakers in Quebec, the Montreal Gazette gave it its stamp of approval.
During the hay-days of the 1995 Referendum for Quebec to Separate from Canada, we Anglos and Ethnics were fed a DAILY diet of: “You Anglos are the best treated minority in the world.”
I am not making this quote up about being referred to daily as the best-treated minority in the word. This was the dogma of EVERY SINGLE ETHNOCENTRIC QUEBECOIS NATIONALIST from the Premier to the French media.
They didn’t miss an opportunity to tell us how well treated we were, until I brought this unbelievable insult into their homes (in French) on LIVE TV and LIVE radio in LIVE interviews they couldn’t edit.
WELL TREATED – HOW?
How do you treat us so well by living and working in this magnificent city of Montreal that was built with ENGLISH AND ETHNIC RISK AND MONEY?
How do you treat us so well by enjoying sports franchises (Canadiens, Expos and Alouettes) bought and paid for by Anglos and Ethnics?
How do you treat us so well by taking our hugely disproportionate tax dollars in comparison to the average taxes paid by Francophones on a per capita basis?
How do you treat us so well by clogging our Anglo hospitals with your own health needs to the detriment of the English and Ethnic communities who built, paid and maintain them?
How do you treat us so well by making our English hospitals BILINGUAL IMPERATIVE? In others words, unilingual English doctors, nurses – etc are PERSON NON GRATA.
How do you treat us so well by working in the MANY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of jobs created by the Anglo and Ethnic communities?
How do you treat us so well by making our English language, our history and our culture invisible?
How do you treat us so well by choking off the natural growth to our Anglo educational system?
How do you treat us so well by making it virtually IMPOSSIBLE for an Anglo, even a perfectly bilingual Anglo to get a job anywhere in Quebec’s Civil Service?
How do you treat us so well by making the OFFICIAL moving day of Quebec July 1st, while the rest of Canada celebrates CANADA DAY?
And how do you treat us so well by passing a draconian law (Bill 101) that makes the UNRESTRICTED USE OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ILLEGAL?
It used to really piss-me-off to no end when these racist Bastards in the elitist French media would refer to me as the ANGLO JEW (in French) in their news headlines as if that was not racist.
BUT NOT NEARLY AS MUCH AS IT PISSED-ME-OFF TO HAVE THESE BAD ACTORS TELL ME HOW FORTUNATE I WAS TO BE A MEMBER OF THE BEST-TREATED MINORITY IN THE WORLD!
It came to the point, that I was certain, the next time a Quebecois who would tell me how well treated I was, there would have been violence. I SIMPLY COULDN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE.
And here’s Hubert Bauch of the Montreal Gazette, Montreal’s ONLY English language daily CELEBRATING the fact that Montreal’s Anglo community has FINALLY LEARNED ITS PLACE, as if that is something to be proud of.
I don’t think I could trust myself being in the same room with him. The Nazis had Lord Ha-Ha. The Japanese had Tokyo Rose; Quebec’s ethnocentric nationalists have many just like Hubert Bauch.
Reading this type of crap in the soon to go out of business Montreal Gazette just wants to make me hurl.
If truth-be-told, Quebec has been the BEST TREATED xenophobic ethnocentric nationalist region EVER. Without the HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of wasted dollars, maybe as much a TRILLION DOLLARS that Canada has pissed-away in the bottomless pit we call Quebec, Quebec wouldn’t exist.
This is the kind of thinking from the likes of Andre Pratte, Michael Ignatieff and Hubert Bauch that has convinced me beyond any question whatsoever – GOOD-BYE Quebec.
I can’t even begin to list all the good things that will happen to Canada the moment Quebec finally leaves Confederation. THE SOONER THE BETTER!
Best Regards . . . Howard Galganov
