The Maccabees Were Outnumbered, Out-Weaponed, Out-Trained & Out Organized. But Without Hesitation, the Maccabees Fought a Long & Arduous Series of Battles to Victory, Reclaiming the Second Temple (Jerusalem) and the Territories of Judea & Samaria, Today – are Known by the Anti-Semites as the West Bank, which are Claimed to Be Historic Palestinian Territories, Where History (Written, Spoken & Archeological) Prove Otherwise.

On The Religious Context . . . Chanukah Is Celebrated For The Miracle Of Light, When there was Only Enough Oil in the Lamp to Re-Purify the Re-Conquered Temple for One Day, But Instead, The Oil Burned For A “Miraculous” 8-Days . . . Hence . . . The Celebration of Chanukah is to Give Thanks to God for the Restoration of the Second Temple, And The Victory Of The Jews Over The Greek Idolators.

Since I Am Not Overly Religious . . . I Look At Chanukah in the Context of Judaism’s Great Victory Not to Take a Knee to the Real Threat of Overwhelming Force to Defeat Jewish Freedoms. I Look At Chanukah, Not so Much as a Religious Victory, But Far More as a Victory for Courage & Resilience – When Defeat Was Almost All But Certain.

I Look At Chanukah As The Testament To A Jewish Resolve Never To Surrender . . .

Not When the Overwhelming Force of the Roman Legions Destroyed the Temple & Drove the Jewish Israelis from Our Land of Israel. Not During the Years of the Crusades, the Inquisitions, the Pogroms, the Holocaust . . . And Not Even The Years Of Existential Warfare Threatening Israel’s Survival From 1948 – Right Up Until The Present Day.

Anne & I Will Light Our Chanukah Candles Tomorrow Night As We Have Always Done . . . For us to Remember – Who We Are, From Where We Have Come, Where We Are At, And To Where We Are Heading.

We Will Light Our Candles For 8-Days To Commemorate The Maccabees, to Give Thanks for the Courage of Today’s Israelis (Jewish & Not), who Stand Steadfastly for the Freedoms Given to us in the Words of the Torah. What is it Worth to America, for Israeli Technology to Design a Military Defense System Against the Onslaught of Incoming Rockets, Missiles & Drones . . . In The Name Of The IRON DOME?

Not Finally . . . And Certainly Not The Least – What is it Worth to America to Have One of the World’s Best & Most Powerful Armed Forces Representing Freedom, Democracy & Western Values in the Most Troubled & Strategically Important Regions on the Planet?

If Not all the Money America Gives to Israel for Defense . . . Most of it Comes Back Directly to the USA for Israeli Procurement of American Built Weapons.

But Let’s For A Minute Forget About What America Gets Back Militarily, and Focus on What the Rest of the World Benefits from Israel, Especially from Israeli Military Products, Israeli Military Technologies & Israeli Intelligence (Mossad), which Goes to Countries with the Audacity of Publicly Boycotting the Jewish State for Domestic & International Political Expedience.
