Law & Order Or The Alternative

YEARS AGO . . . I STEERED INTO AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENT:
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN MUGGED, ROBBED OR INTIMIDATED ON THE STREET?

The LEFT Hate Trump’s Law & Order . . . I On The Other Hand . . .

Years Ago, while I was Walking in Vancouver (Canada) on One of Vancouver’s Most Posh Downtown Streets in the Middle of the Day, a Homeless Man with an Australian Accent Came-Up to Me to Ask for Money.

At First He Seemed Almost Normal. But When I Told him No, from Almost Normal, he Became Incredibly Loud, Abusive & Threatening. And Within the Blink of an Eye, What Started as a Non-Event as I was Just Minding my Own Business while Walking in a Fancy Part of Downtown Vancouver, I Found Myself in a Confrontation with Someone I Didn’t Know, who was at the Very Least Verbally Violent, And For All I Knew Was Armed & Dangerous.

I Am Not A Small Guy . . . Especially Years Ago When I was a Younger Man, if I Had to Fight . . .  Fight I Would (I Still Would). I Guess the Would-Be Mugger Must Have Sensed that, Because When I Lit-Into-Him . . . He Backed-Off To Look For Easier Prey.

Even Though This Incident Happened Years Ago, I Still Remember it as if it Happened Yesterday. That Is How Much Of A Mark This Confrontation Left On My Psyche.

Understand This . . . I Am No Patsy. I’ve Been in my Share of Fights in Karate Tournaments, Jewish Defense League Krav Maga Training, Hockey Matches and a Few School Yard Brawls . . . I Don’t Cut & Run.

But This Occurrence Left A Long-Term Impression On Me.

YEARS AGO . . . I STEERED INTO AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENT:

About 28-Years Ago, When I was Broadcasting my Live Radio-Talk-Show (AM 600-CIQC), that had a Huge Montreal Listening Audience . . . from Time to Time I Would Take my Talk Show on the Road, Broadcasting By Cell Phone. It was Rudimentary Back then, Often Dropping the Signal, but it was Real, Instantaneous and if Nothing Else – It Made For Great Radio.

On Certain Occasions, When I Had to Travel for Business Where I Didn’t Have Access to Broadcast Studios, and a Cell Phone or a Regular Landline Wouldn’t-Do, The Station That I Broadcast For Would Have Another Host Do My Show.

I ALWAYS LOVED WASHINGTON DC – THE POWER CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE:

One Day, Anne & I Decided To Take A Week-Off & Drive To Washington DC (About 600-Miles From Montreal), where we Would Further Explore the Smithsonian Museums, Arlington National Cemetery, the Pentagon, the Mall and so Many other Great things Washington Has to Offer.

I Made Arrangements with the Radio Station to Supply a Guest Host on Monday Through Thursday, But On Friday, When Anne & I Would be Driving Back to Montreal, I Would Broadcast the Radio Show Live on My Cell Phone to Speak About Our Washington Adventure.

“GALGANOV AT HIGH NOON” . . .

My Show Was Broadcast 5-Days A Week From Noon To One – Hence . . . “Galganov At High Noon”.

If You Ever Drove Though Washington DC, you Would Know that at the Best of Times, the Roads all Around Washington are Not Much Better than Parking Lots with Traffic Jams Everywhere, because of the Volume of Traffic and the Fact that it Seems there isn’t a Road in or Around DC that Isn’t Under Construction or Repair.

As Anne And I Were Driving Out Of Washington On Our Way Home, we Ran into a Detour that Directed us Away from where we Had to be, and because there were so Many Confusing Detour Signs at Every Turn, Eventually, we Found Ourselves in the Heart of the Washington Slums, Within Sight Of The Capitol.

What we Saw were Dilapidated Buildings where People Lived in Shuttered Homes, with a Large Number of Broken-Down Cars on the Side of the Road, Many of Which were on Cinder Blocks. And as we were Forced to Drive Slowly because of Traffic, we  Drove Along this Street with No Idea Where this Route was Going to Lead-Us.

We Noticed Two Things . . .

We Were the Only White People. And Many of the Black People on the Street . . . Were Giving-Us The Not So Friendly Eye.

I’m Not Being Melodramatic When I Say The Following . . .

As I Was Driving, I Was Also Doing My Live Radio Show. And as I was Doing my Radio Show, Anne was Trying Not to be Heard by My Audience When She told me in a Soft Voice . . . How Terrified She Was.

Anne Wasn’t Alone . . . I Didn’t Tell This To Anne, but I too Was More Frightened During these Numbers of Minutes on that Washington DC Street, than I had Ever been in my Life, even More Concerned than I was that Day I was Confronted by the Homeless Thug on the Downtown Street of Vancouver.

During Driving & Speaking Over The Radio – I Had Said This To My Audience . . .

What I Am About To Tell You Is Not A Joke . . . Anne & I Are Lost in a Slum Somewhere In Washington DC in Sight of the Washington Capital. I Have No Idea which Street we are on, And I Don’t Know In Which Direction We Are Driving.

If For Any Reason This Broadcast Cuts-Off, Get the Number to the Washington DC Police & Call them as Soon as you Can . . . That’s How Serious The Situation Was.

I Figured, As Long As We Were Moving We Were Relatively Safe. But my Fear also Included . . . What if a Car Ahead of us Would Stop, Then Anne & I Would Be In More Trouble Than I Was Able To Imagine. But No Car Ahead of us Stopped, and we Kept Driving Until we Found What Appeared to be a Main Road.

Once On The Main Road, we Kept Driving Until we Found a Throughway Heading in Any Direction, as Long as it was Heading Away from where we were at. In a Few Minutes, we were Able to Figure-Out Where we were and How to Get to Where we had to Go . . . During This Entire Misery – I Never Stopped Broadcasting.

SO WHY AM I TELLING YOU THIS STORY . . . ?

There is a Great Deal of LEFTIST Consternation Over Trump’s Plan to Enhance City Police Departments with State & Federal Troops & Zero Tolerance for Anyone Breaking the Law, Including Vagrants.

I’ve Seen Firsthand How Once Upon-A-Time Gorgeous Cities Like Vancouver, Seattle, Portland – Etc, Have Turned Into Dangerous & Filthy Slums. And I’ve Experienced the Personal Terror of the Potential for Anne’s & My Own Physical Demise.

WHATEVER IT TAKES . . .

So Let Me Put This As Succinctly As I Can  . . . Let The Authorities Patrol With Machine-Guns – The More The Better.

In Texas . . . Concealed Guns Are Aplenty. So are Guns in Most Vehicles. And over the 5-Years Anne And I Spent In Texas, we Rarely Heard a Horn Honk or Saw Someone Push Ahead of Someone Else.

Also In Texas . . . Especially Hill Country Where Anne & I Stayed . . . If Someone Got Out of Line, there was No Shortage of Armed Citizens, Sheriff Deputies, Local Police & State Troopers . . . All of Whom Wouldn’t Hesitate to Read the Culprit the Riot Act. Texas, Especially Hill Country, Is A Great, Peaceful, Clean & Safe Place To Be.

In Israel, Everyone Drafted Into the Military when on Duty (Men & Women), as Long as they are in Uniform – 18-Years Old Plus, Carry Assault Weapons Everywhere . . . And I Do Mean Everyone, And I Do Mean Everywhere – Without A Downside.

In Spite of the Palestinian Threat – Israel is a Clean & Safe Place to be.

It’s Time Past Due For The Good Guys To Take Back Our Streets – Screw The Thugs.

Best Regards . . . Howard Galganov

  1. Re: gun carrying in Israel. A member of the IDF has two choices regarding their assigned weapon when not on base. First, they can store it at home in a locked, secure vault, or they can carry their weapon with them at ALL TIMES. They do not have to be in uniform. There are pictures of brides who are in the IDF, slinging their weapons over their shoulders under the chupah.

  2. Absolutely agree, ran into your same situation in St Louis and in Cleveland. Get off the main roads at you own risk. But unfortunately the criminals are winning in Canada as our government doubles down on personal firearms. Thanks of the great post

  3. Had a similar experience Howard in DC. Driving a tour bus and trying to turn around I got down one of the hood streets. A police officer pulled me over only to ask why I was down here. Said “ you do not need to be in this neighborhood”.Help me turn around and got out of there. This was 2005.

  4. It has been said many times before but I will say it again: The most dangerous place in the country is where there are signs saying No Gun Zone and the safest place is at a NRA convention where everyone is armed. Swallow that, you glib libs. The bastard politicians want us all disarmed in order to maintain their power.

  5. Howard, My wife and I never felt more safe than walking down ben yehuda street at night in jerusalem surrounded by men and women in uniform (IDF) carrying weapons.
