As a secular Jew, living in a North American context, I am aghast at the level of world-wide anti-Semitism and hypocrisy.

The March 25, Los Angeles Times headline reads: “The color barrier is broken as two African Americans win top acting honors”. What color barrier? I thought these awards were for best actors within the industry.

Canada is not a world-beater. But nonetheless, we have a pretty good country, mostly because of Ottawa’s social programs.
Imagine how the world, and the international news media would have been all over the Israelis if a Palestinian was publicly murdered at the hands of Israeli troops.
Chrétien has saddled Canada with yet another real winner. Even Paul (I love Meech Lake) Martin is starting to look real good. How pathetic is that?
So, now that this “paragon” of international virtue has declared that Israel is “illegally” occupying Palestine. What is there left for Israel to do?
As a Jew living within Canada, I have been quite sheltered from anti-Semitism. But; I can not ignore what I see, read and hear from the rest of the world.
